Ritual is very nearly complete 🌿

It’s been so lovely watching this tiny space come together, from the bespoke screen featuring the Ritual logo I designed, to the furniture, planting and all the little details in between. And yes, I somehow made all of it 😆

Just a few finishing touches left… although I may have already sneakily started the next space. Shhh 🤫

With a new chapter unfolding came a website refresh! I’d love to hear your thoughts on my new online space … and if you do take a look you might see a few things yet to make it to Instagram 🤫 www.surfaceandsoul.co.uk

Drawing has always been a part of my life and moving to digital sketching over 10 years ago when I got my first iPad was an absolute game changer! It helps me bring ideas to life and get to know them in detail, from where shadows may fall, to what colours/materials could work before spending hours modelling and rendering.

This sketch is of the canopy - the ceiling installation I’m in the process of constructing for the collective quarter.

It follows Ritual’s design language of soft, organic curves and lush foliage. Creating a moment to encourage looking up and raising your chin with confidence.

Next time you’re out and about I encourage you to look up, if a space has been truly considered when designed you’ll be delighted by what you see!

An exciting update! ✨

Behind the scenes at Surface & Soul I’ve been getting myself geared up to ….
Study my masters! 👩🏻‍🎓

Over the last few months I’ve been in touch with the course leader at and was invited to attend a webinar about the course. During the call she shared she had been following my work and would be pleased to offer me a fast tracked, unconditional offer to study in September - and when the universe offers you an opportunity like that, you simply cannot say no!

I’m incredibly excited to specialise more in my two passions - sustainability and inclusive design - which will mean I’m able to provide and even better service to future clients.

I’ll of course take you along for the ride, so stay tuned!

Right I’m off to buy lots of unnecessary stationery! 😆🤩

This project holds a really special place in my heart 🌿

The Stour Centre was my final degree project: a holistic wellbeing centre designed around the idea that our spaces can support us in so many different ways, physically, emotionally, socially and sensorially.

At its heart was a focus on creating a space that felt genuinely inclusive for neurodivergent visitors, with adaptable environments, calmer moments to retreat to, and thoughtful sensory considerations woven throughout rather than added as an afterthought.

It was also where I really began exploring sustainable design in more depth: looking at how recycled, innovative and tactile materials could create spaces that feel beautiful and restorative, while being kinder to the planet too.

I’m still so proud that this project received my end-of-year dissertation prize, alongside an award for sustainability in industry. More than anything, though, it helped shape the kind of designer I want to be: someone who creates spaces that feel considered, connected and supportive of the people using them.

You can explore the full project over on my website via the link in my bio, and I’d love to know, what makes a wellbeing space feel genuinely welcoming to you?

Did you know recycled plastic bottles could make your workplace quieter?

Made from post-consumer shredded and compressed plastic bottles are transformed into durable felt panels, which are available in a multitude of colours, shapes and thicknesses - there will absolutely be one to suit your space!

The panels themselves reduce echo and reverb, which makes cafés, offices and reception spaces feel calmer and quieter.

They can also be used to define zones without building walls, which is a great way of keeping a space feeling open yet soft.

I recommend that any business owner consider adding even a few panels in their space. You can have a lot of fun with the design, and it also works hard to soften an environment without a huge price tag.

Industry Insights | Your AI floor plan won’t work

AI can create beautiful ideas, but beautiful doesn’t mean buildable.

A friend recently came to me with a floor plan ready for their studio space and was asking me to double check the measurements because their AI generated one showed a comfortable 16 mats with room to spare but when she tested this out only 12 fitted. This is a classic example of where a computer can’t take the job of a designer.

AI can’t visually understand or represent space the way a designer will through a scaled floor plan. Sure it can create ideas but don’t take it as the truth of what your space could be.

If you find your planning a shop, studio, café or pop-up, by all means use AI for inspiration, but don’t skip the collaboration that turns an idea into a space people can and will enjoy using.

🍃 Sustainable Spotlights | Concept Highlight: Circular Design
Sustainability isn’t just about choosing better materials.
It’s also about designing spaces, products, and furniture with their entire lifecycle in mind.
Circular design challenges us to think beyond the initial fit-out and consider how things can be repaired, reused, adapted, and repurposed over time.
The goal?
To keep valuable resources in circulation for longer and design out waste before it’s created.
A concept l’ve gained a much deeper appreciation for through my work alongside Design Conformity and one that I believe will play an increasingly important role in the future of commercial interiors.

My latest client project is ready to be seen! 👓

I’ve had the privilege of working on a few projects with Dood Eyewear, the most recent one being designing a Piaggio Ape van that can be used at festivals and events to sell eyewear and espressos.

I learnt an awful lot, working with this unique and challenging layout but the outcome has ticked all the clients wishes and is currently under construction - I can’t wait to see it!

I’m looking forward to more unique projects with equally unique brands - if that’s you please do get in touch, I’d love to create something for you ✨
