French "gras" bayonet. 1887 model, but converted for hand to hand warfare in WW1 trenches. Its a rare opportunity object. From a social history perspective, this bayonet must have a bloody story behind it. An unsuitable blade for trench combat, but munition and weapons shortages meant these guys had to use what they could. £115.00
