The hardest part of loving them…

We all know that loving an animal comes with one promise we wish we never had to keep.

We get to experience the muddy paws, the stolen treats, the early mornings, the cuddles, the silly moments and the unconditional love…

But one day, we have to say goodbye. 💔

And although that final day is the hardest, it doesn’t make all the days before it any less worth it.

Every muddy paw.
Every whinny.
Every purr.
Every wagging tail.
Every moment.

They leave paw prints, hoofprints and memories that stay with us forever. 🤎

That is exactly why I love creating keepsakes from the things that belonged to the animals we loved so dearly. A little piece of them to hold onto when they’re no longer here. 🐾

Because their things can become our memories.

Before & After

This beautiful vintage bear came in for a little spa day and a leg operation, ready to be lovingly restored before being passed on to the next generation.

After years of love and cuddles, he needed a little TLC. His leg was repaired, his fur given some much-needed attention, and he’s now looking fresh, fluffy and ready for many more years of love.

I love being able to give treasured childhood keepsakes a new lease of life, whilst keeping the character and memories that make them so special.

From one generation to the next. ❤️

This vintage bear, believed to be around 60 years old, has come in for a little freshen up and some much-needed surgery. 🪡✨

After decades of being loved, played with and eventually tucked away in storage, he’s being carefully brought back to life — ready to make new memories and be enjoyed by the next generation.

Because some treasures are simply too special to retire. 🤎

Memory cushions from shirts

Created for a returning customer, each one holds a story and a connection to loved ones who are deeply missed. This set represents a mum and dad / a nan and grandad, all brought together through carefully chosen fabrics.

Seven pieces of clothing were used across the bears, from a suit jacket and tie to soft wool jumpers and a dress filled with holiday memories. Every stitch carries meaning, turning treasured garments into something to hold onto.

Thank you for trusting me with something so personal again, it’s always an honour to create pieces like these 🤍

This has truly been a labour of love 🤍

On a very tight budget, my new workshop and summerhouse is finally finished… well, almost. Just waiting on the electrics next month!

During Covid I had to give up my huge workshop and bring everything home. I really struggled without having a space I could shut the door on. At times, especially before market days, my living room looked like a hoarder’s paradise 🙈

But now… I finally have a little space dedicated to Gem’s Boutique & The Vintage Hippy ✨

From dirt to a building, it definitely did not come without its drama. The damp over winter nearly finished me off. I ended up crowbarring the fence off, building a French drain, adding guttering and a water butt, and sealing everything up.

Thank God it worked!

I couldn’t be happier to have my own creative space again 💫
