Monday Memories ❤️
Happy Heavenly Birthday to my lovely Dad.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know my Dad passed last year after living with vascular dementia.
Some days he didn’t know who you were, but the love was always there.
He found so much joy in the simple things — a nice cup of tea, one of my mum’s homemade scones, and sitting out in the sun on a good day.
I feel incredibly lucky that I could work my appointments around him and see him almost every day.
Those moments are memories I’ll always treasure.
We were also so grateful for the support from Age NI Castlewellan.
Dad loved his time there, and people like Danny, Karen and Barbara truly became part of our lives — we couldn’t have got through those years without them.
It gave Mum a well-deserved break too, and meant we could spend some quality time together, helping her through the challenges of being a 24-hour carer.
If you’re reading this and you’re a carer, please remember to look after your own mental health.
Reach out, ask for help, and don’t try to carry everything on your own.
There’s a big space left in our lives now after being so involved in Dad’s care, so today I’m taking a little time out.
Mum and I are going to spend the day together, doing something nice, remembering Dad with love, and holding onto all the special moments he gave us.
Hope you all have a lovely day too — and if you can, take a moment to hug your loved ones a little tighter ❤️
