Dornoch Fibre Fest is a celebration of natural fibres and wool is the most important for Scotland, though linen from flax was produced here too. We love seeing what our traders offer and last year we were joined for the first time by Shearing Crafts. Pam is a shearer based in Aberdeenshire, specialising in pets and rare breeds. These fleeces are then wet felted using hot water, soap and elbow grease. Pam will also have washed and carded batts of various breeds, perfect for spinning and felting.

560 grams of undercoat brushed from beautiful Tibetan Mastiff spun into cobweb yarn. Next step is plying it with silk thread and probably weaving into several large scarves ❤️

Recycling - this word is everywhere now with different meanings.
It looks like I am in a process of a new project and it is all about my adorable woven rugs!
Recycling allows you to transform your well-used t-shirts into new functional rug rather than throwing them away into green bin!
And, believe me, these types of rugs will live much-much longer than your lovely T-shirts and will serve even your grandchildren!

I was in Edinburgh yesterday, and when I am there I always find a time for National museum!
I am very happy that I had an opportunity to try working with yak undercoat, it is incredible fine and lite, quite short fiber, but full of its own unique particular qualities!
