Finished result first 🔥… then here’s how we got there.

A little behind-the-scenes look at this installation, from opening everything up and preparing the fireplace through to the finished stove.

On this one we also had to build the rear of the chamber out with blocks to create the required 200mm-thick wall. I’ve talked through the process in the voiceover and explained why we’re doing each stage along the way.

I much prefer showing the work that goes into these installations rather than just posting the finished photo. There’s usually a lot more going on behind the scenes than you’d think 👌🔥

🎯 Simple little trick for marking out a perfect circle on a ceiling.

When we’re marking out for a flue, getting the centre and the cut-out neat and accurate makes everything that follows much easier.

A bit of masking tape, a tape measure and a few minutes marking it properly before making any cuts. Simple, but it works 👌🔥

One of those little site tricks that’s handy to know!

We’re not plasterers by trade and we’re completely self-taught, so our method might look a little different to how the professionals do it… but the end result is what matters 👌🔥

When we plaster a chimney breast, getting it nice and flat is especially important because we’re often fitting straight-edged surrounds, beams and hearths afterwards.

Any dips or bumps in the plaster can leave ugly gaps along those edges, so we take our time getting everything as straight and flat as possible.

Might not be the textbook way… but we always aim for a finish we’d be happy to leave in our own home. 👊
