I haven't done a soft pastel pencil drawing in ages. So with 4 sessions from Sabine Lackner 💛 HOW TO DRAW ANIMALS, I managed to complete this kitten. It took me about 6 hours over the 4 days.

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not a cat person, but I thought I could do with the drawing practice 😆😆😆

And, I think its turned out not too bad.

Finally some finished cross stitch projects. These two were from a Jayne Netley Mayhew cross stitch book. I do love our British wildlife, although these are both deadly killers. The stoat is quite the fiesty little predator and of course the kestrel is one of our most beautiful birds of prey!

Stitched on 28ct evenweave over 2 holes using DMC embroidery threads. Obviously, they need ironed and framed, but they'll be on my wall in the next week or so 😆.

This was a fun watercolour painting.

I've never drawn or painted a walrus before, so this was an interesting subject. The tutor, Valeria Renne from explained all the textures and colours so well, and I enjoyed the different techniques for his nose and whiskers.

I like the use of a black fine liner to add extra details.

I think this might be one of my favourite watercolour paintings I've done to date. I love turtles and this one (I think) turned out terrific, especially as I drew it freehand.

The tutor was Valeria Renne from Drawing Dog. She explained the loose paint strokes so well, and I loved the effect of my wave with the flying fish. I used a black fineliner to complete the turtle details.

I'm framing this one!!

I took part in a very different watercolour painting marathon a couple of weeks ago, and enjoyed some wild birds and animals. The tutor was Valeria Renne from Drawing Dog. The loose paintbrush strokes and wet on wet style was way out of my comfort zone, but sometimes we need to try new things, and I'm pleased with how my Great Grey Owl turned out 😊

Another watercolour painting from a photograph without a tutorial from about 3 weeks ago. There were loads of stork photos provided in a painting group I belong to. I thought I was picking an easy one.... it was not!

The sky was really difficult, but the nest and stork were even harder. Anyway... just a nice sunset painting to go with the mental hot weather we're having right now!!

I rarely paint directly from a photograph without a tutorial (too overwhelming), but this was a challenge that was posted in an art group I belong to, and I thought I'd push myself - because I loved the photo.

When I'm following a lesson, I'm working at the pace the tutor sets, but by myself, I can take my time, draw my sketch and choose my colours and style. This might not be brilliant, but I'm so pleased I managed to draw and paint a Sea Turtle.

Done on cheap sketchbook paper from Poundland and Pebeo watercolour paints and a white gel pen to create some water lines.

Just a wee quick fun graphite drawing I did a few weeks ago. I love frogs, but I know some people don't... Sylvia Glenn Batchelor, so this one is not for you! 🤣🤣

This wasn't a lesson or tutorial, I just spied the picture and thought I'd try it, mostly to practice my shading and tones.

I was pleasantly pleased with this one.... my lambs at least kinda look like lambs!

I painted this sunset scene, which was a watercolour tutorial from Paul Clark Art, a few weeks ago. I don't do a lot of landscapes, as I find them very intimidating, even with the guidance of a tutor 😆.

Something very, very different today...

I've never drawn a portrait before, so I decided to try this online course from Valdor Art.

I drew this freehand as I didn't have a printout, and just worked from the photo (provided by the tutor) on my phone screen.

The shading really brought her to life. I know her nose looks broken, but I promise, that's what the photo looked like lol.

Anyway, 4 different pencils and 5 days later, I had a completed drawing! I'll definitely have to try a portrait again... if I have the patience 😄.
