Some more experimentation of Kathy McGuire's frozen pond technique, a restock of my dark blue dinnerware, big vases and some very special pots (more on those another time).

The very tall thin vase has been sitting on the side for about a year while I've been waiting until I had some other tall vases to fire it with, otherwise it just wastes kiln space. Anyway, it was some customer's lucky day yesterday, because they were after a tall thin vase and I said, well come into my workroom, this has just come out of the kiln. One of those cosmic coincidences!

What another one!
Yes, I had quite a few bisque fired pieces stored up, so I thought I would experiment more with Kathy McGuire's frozen pond technique. Went off piste and did some weird and wonderful combinations of glazes. Also played around with using a Gelli plate for screen printing onto cylinders and using the new Amaco printing inks on tiles. PLUS finally managed to fit my giant vase into the kiln.

Bringing a selection of these to Herne Hill Market tomorrow. Weather's looking ok, so hope to see you there!

The plant sale is now on. Come quickly the plants are selling fast as are the gorgeous cakes. Am here supporting the garden society and horticultural society by selling my jam and chutney!

No risk, no reward! Was very anxious about how this kiln opening would turn out. First time doing the 'Frozen Pond' technique by Kathy McGuire. I didn't know how much it would run, so I was particularly worried about the tiles, but so pleased how they turned out! Will post the before and afters another time. Lots more experimentation ideas!

Also in this kiln lots of test tiles including trying out Pasler Gold, which was awesome on any shelf in the kiln, but particularly shiny on the top shelf.

All pots are making their way into the shop right now.

This morning's kiln opening. Some of my biggest vases, some cute new little ring dishes and a some restocking. I have finally got round to actually testing my glazes, which I do upright on a little stand I made, so I can see how much they run over texture. As you can see there are two green glazes that run a bunch, one I knew about, one I didn't!
