We had a very exciting week doing flowers for a box in the Royal Enclosure at Ascot. Thank goodness it wasn’t as hot last week as it is now because everything inside the box and balcony outside had to look perfect for the whole week. We thought very carefully about the flowers we selected. Every stem was cut from the flower farm with 100% sustainable mechanics. We were interested to see that the ‘no floral foam’ message hadn’t yet made it’s way to event floristry there as far as we could see.

We had a great privilege of doing funeral flowers for a dear friend and neighbour recently. The basket was filled with 10 hessian covered tins so that at the end of the day the family could each take a posy home. Everything seasonal and completely recycleable

Had some left over Pittosporum and Viburnum and oddments from a lovely job we did yesterday. I first plonked everything in a vase but the viburnum didn’t work. As I can’t bear to waste anything had a rush of blood to the head and popped them into a small green bowl. Do you agree better (if perhaps lacking in height)? Anyhow now on the kitchen table to enjoy this week

Loving these Colibri poppies. Only bought a few plugs from last year as I was nervous about cutting them. So far even one which had opened completely overnight before I harvested it still looks brilliant after 5 days on my kitchen table. The 2 others which were in bud showing colour are absolutely magnificent too. Definitely growing more of these in their beautiful pastel colours next year.

Love the fact that these glorious spring flowers can be either a wedding bouquet or a special table decoration- both bring huge joy. Thank goodness flowers are emerging again after what has seemed like a very long wet winter.
