Eastbourne Scrap Store

Eastbourne Scrap Store Eastbourne Scrap store is a place where you can donate & buy cheap recycled arts and crafts materials & do your bit to recycle.

Our volunteers sort the scrap & we also offer free and low cost workshops where you can learn new skills and meet new friends. Welcome to the Eastbourne Scrap Store! The Eastbourne Scrap Store is based on the principle of reduce, reuse and recycle. It works by taking re-usable, safe, clean waste products (‘scrap’) donated by individuals and local businesses that can be repurposed by its members in

to pieces of art, crafts and gifts. Members pay a small fee to collect scrap from the store for personal and group use within the community. The Scrap Store stores also provide an outreach provision in the form of workshops where participants can demonstrate examples of ways in which they can put ‘reducing, reusing and recycling’ into practice in a shared environment and have a better understanding of their commitment to improving the environment; the local economy; and society by reducing waste in landfill.

📣 ONE DAY CLOSURE
Thursday 25 June 2026

*** WORKSHOPS WILL RUN AS USUAL ***

Exceptionally, the Eastbourne Scrap Store will be closed on Thursday 25th June to allow our lovely volunteers to attend an important workshop about Asset Based Community Development (ABCD).

This community workshop is intended to build stronger, more connected neighbourhoods ‘How can we all support each other to grow neighbourhoods and communities where people feel safe, valued, and ready to join in?’. This will help us to continue to provide the best possible experience to all our visitors.

We will be open again as usual from 9:30am to 2:30pm on Friday 26 June :-)

SEWING BONANZA! 🪡 🧵
Last week was the start of our Beginners Machine Sewing course with Hilly and everyone came away with a basic understanding of their machines, pattern making and a pin cushion they'd sewn themselves. Sadly, there was so much excitement that not many photos were taken, so we'll see more next week...
We also had our Hand Sewn Blossie Boxes workshop. These are gorgeous little trinket boxes made from fabric hexagons. Our lovely tutor Sue spent ages putting together packs of beautifully coloured hexagons for us 😍

I know we've already posted about our little garden this week, but I feel it's worth another mention and maybe a photo or two 📸🥰
Thank you again to Heather for her continued efforts so that we can all enjoy her flowers 💐

We finished off a lovely sunny day with our ever popular Sip 'n' Paint workshop, transporting ourselves to tropical climes.
There was much laughter and concentration as we saw the paintings develop with each layer under the capable guidance of Deb from Crafty Cards.
Thank you so much to everyone who attended - you all did amazingly well 😁

Today has been a busy one fuelled by many cups of coffee and lots of happy smiling faces!
First up was our cork and beaded hangers. Despite the recent showers we'd managed to forage some interestingly shaped sticks for our hangers, and and a selecting of stunning glass beads. Who would ever guess that one of these was made by a little crafter of just 4 years old (with a bit of help from mum 😊).
Well done to all our crafters, and especially Janet Ray helping out at very short notice 😉

I love Thursdays at the Eastbourne Scrap Store!
It's doggy heaven with Chester and Darla pottering about and saying hello to everyone. Darla always needs a little snooze when we get home...
We have our 'community makes' group which has grown over the past few months, and today they were making syringe driver bags for the local hospital in cheerful colours.
We had our usual workshops; learn to crochet, patchwork plus knit and natter, as well as two new ones today; paper collage and button meadows plus beginners machine sewing with Hilly.
Of special mention is our little patch of garden which has been tended by Heather, one of our amazing volunteers. From a little patch of neglected garden, we now have a lovely range of colourful and fragrant flowers. The sweet peas are glorious at the moment, and we even had a poppy in bloom when I arrived this morning!
