Another condensation and damp issue successfully resolved.
The client was experiencing recurring damp staining, peeling paint and historic mould around a bedroom ceiling and wall junction.
Our investigation found that blocked eaves ventilation was trapping moisture within the loft. This caused condensation to form on the roof membrane and timbers, which then affected the room below.
To rectify the issue, we pulled the insulation away from the eaves to restore airflow, installed membrane vents to improve loft ventilation and treated the affected timbers for mould.
We then installed an ISO-Therm isolating membrane to the affected internal areas and replastered the surfaces. This provided improved thermal performance and long-term protection against recurring staining and condensation.
A thorough solution addressing both the underlying cause and the internal damage.

We were instructed to carry out extensive internal damp proofing and associated remedial works throughout the dining room, living room/porch party wall, and kitchen areas. The works included removing contaminated plaster back to bare masonry, treating hygroscopic salts, installing a new damp-proofing system, applying liquid DPM, cementitious tanking slurry, waterproof/salt-resistant render, and finishing with plaster. External works also included localised render repairs and improvements to low-level detailing.
This has been a challenging project from the start, but the boys have done a great job pushing it forward and keeping the standard high. Negotiations and communication with the client have also been swift, easy, and professional throughout, allowing us to adapt quickly and keep the job moving.
Great effort from everyone involved.

Another damp issue professionally diagnosed and rectified by our surveyor, James.

A damp investigation was carried out to two internal areas of the property. The dining room showed stable readings with no significant live dampness, while the lounge corner showed heavy salt contamination, staining, and live damp readings extending above the previous salt line.

External checks found the DPC to be present and functional, but high external ground levels and a likely bridged cavity were allowing moisture to track into the wall. This was diagnosed as bridging and hygroscopic salt contamination, not DPC failure.

To rectify the issue, we removed contaminated plaster, treated the salts, installed a new DPC and liquid membrane, and reinstated the wall using a waterproof and salt-resistant render system before skimming and fitting matching skirting.

Externally, we exposed the DPC, removed the bridging, inspected and cleared the cavity, reinstated the brickwork, and repointed using suitable breathable materials.

Another damp issue identified and rectified.

We were called to a property where the rear small conservatory area had suffered salt and damp damage to the dwarf wall sections. This was caused by vertical moisture ingress, leading to salt contamination and further condensation problems.

On our latest visit, we found external render was bridging moisture up the walls, holding damp within the building fabric and creating cold spots internally at low level.

To resolve this, we removed the render by at least 200mm and reinstated it with a new PVC bellcast bead, allowing trapped moisture to dry out and helping prevent future vertical bridging. This will improve low-level thermal readings and reduce condensation issues inside the home.

Another damp issue correctly diagnosed and professionally resolved ✅

Our surveyor James was called to a bedroom affected by mould and staining, where the client had previously had inspections and works carried out by multiple companies.

After a full damp survey, thermal imaging, moisture profiling and loft inspection, we identified the real cause: thermal deficiency and cold bridging, leading to surface condensation and mould growth — not an active roof leak or standard penetrating damp issue.

Our team carried out targeted remedial works, including:

• Improved loft insulation above the affected room
• Specialist mould treatment to contaminated internal areas
• Thermal upgrade works to the ceiling and affected walls
• Installation of a thermal system to improve surface temperatures
• Plastering and finishing ready for redecoration

This is why the correct diagnosis matters. Treating the visible mould is only part of the job — finding and fixing the cause is what prevents the problem from returning.
