We’re delighted to share that Simpson Studio has been appointed to lead the redesign of , a historic hotel on the site of a former farmhouse dating back hundreds of years.⁠
⁠
Set against the backdrop of Lyzzick Wood, an ancient woodland whose name derives from the Old English for light oak, the hotel’s story is deeply entwined with the landscape and history of the Lake District.⁠
⁠
In these early stages, possibilities abound. Our moodboard represents a conversation: exploring palette, texture and atmosphere as we define a design that feels both timeless and new.⁠

At Simpson Studio, we believe hotels must be both sanctuary and stage. Places that are rooted in their setting, responsive to brand and crafted for comfort. This bespoke playroom was conceived for a family residence, bringing together art, music, theatre and sensory play within a single, cohesive environment. Inspired by the English countryside, the space centres around three sculptural beehives, surrounded by a miniature townhouse café, ice cream cart and car garage: each created to encourage storytelling and creative exploration.⁠
⁠
Every corner offers a new experience: a stage and puppet theatre filled with costumes and props, a soft play zone with slides, trampolines and climbing structures and a sensory tunnel leading to a lookout across the room. A reading nook and art corner provide space for quieter moments of focus and expression.⁠
⁠
Throughout, colour and craft take centre stage: bespoke murals and handcrafted details transform the interior into a vibrant, joyful landscape that balances playfulness with precision.⁠
⁠
At Simpson Studio, we’ve developed a niche for designing purposeful, imaginative spaces for children. Guided by the Montessori philosophy (a child-centred approach grounded in observation and development), our designs encourage exploration, learning and growth through their surroundings.⁠
