Better late than never… 🌸
Five months into having the shop and I realised I’ve never properly introduced myself — so hi, I’m Isla 👋
Originally a Leith lass, I moved to Portobello last year. Before Wild Flower, I was a primary school teacher but I swapped the classroom for being a small business owner and truly haven’t looked back.
Here in this picture, I’m sitting in my late grandparents’ garden — a place that’s now beautifully wild and a little unruly, in the loveliest way. I so wish they could see the shop now, because they were the ones who planted the seeds for all of this long before I ever realised it myself. From spending summers picking gooseberries and raspberries in their incredible garden, to learning to appreciate the changing seasons of our flora through their window, my family’s’ influence has given me my love for nature, beauty, and working with my hands. More than anything, they have taught me to find joy in what I do — and I think taking on Wild Flower has grown from that 💐
Going forward, I’m pouring my heart into making Wild Flower the best it can be. As I continue to grow and sharpen my skills, I ask for your continued patience and support for this wee shop. Choosing local and independent makes a world of difference to people like me.
Thank you for helping me keep the legacy of this beautiful space alive. I appreciate you all more than I can say! Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🤩
🌷✨
