Circa 1820. A French King Louis XVIII of the Bourbon Restoration (1815–1830) mahogany Secretaire Abattant, the top with a removable fine polished marble top with visible fossilized insects, the front a full length drawer in the frieze, below a full-size secretaire in the finest mahogany with an elegant pierced escutcheon including flowers, the key in the Gothic style opens to reveal a well-fitted interior including a large leather and gilded writing surface and various drawers, including a large polished area with pair of columns, beneath three full length drawers with similar escutcheons to the top and cast brass k**b handles with roses embossed to the front, all flanked by a pair of inlaid tapering columns with gilded and engraved capitals and bases The base with a simple frieze, all resting on turned feet on the front and square block feet to the back, entire carcass in oak. Provenance – label with Christies 25th November 1987.

Circa 1860. A George III Adam style oval compartmental mirror, the gilded moulded frame with a raised carved dragooned moulded fore-edge, the center with oval bezel edge mirror contained in a ribbed slip with crossover ribbons, with eight smaller curved mirrors to the outside, held in place by a gilded foliate sheath and a fine beading, can be hung oval or portrait, all in excellent condition with some minor slight foxing on some of the mirror plates.

Circa 1860. Quality carved-oak, stained-glass Flemish two-part bookcase. Surmounted by a moulded cornice with dragooned carvings over a carved frieze, the upper section with two leaded glass doors with Lion Rampant motifs within the carved framed doors that are flanked by carved pilasters with lion head masks, all supported on turned columns with a low gallery. The base with two shaped front drawers with brass handles and solid oak linings above two carved doors with geometric carving and carved lion heads opening to a deep shelved interior, flanked by carved pilasters, over a breakfront moulded base. In excellent condition with lovely colour and patina.

Circa 1870. An EPNS (Electroplated Nickel Silver) centre piece in the form of two entwined palm trees, with downward-facing foliate, the trees with realistic patterns on the stems, and foliate decoration on the sides, resting on a curved and patterned base with cartouche-shaped sections, all resting on four scrolled foliate feet with pierced Palmette’s between the feet, recently hand-cleaned.

Circa 1960s. Unusual and stylish metal and painted three-part folding fire screen, the scrolling tops with reeding on the facings, the two ends dip with scrolling sections which fold, the front with foliate cast sections on scrolling wire bound together with small brackets, with four loops at the back for fixing the screen in position.

Circa 1900. Quality mahogany side table by ‘Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh’ with many ‘Sir Robert Lorimer’ influences, the shaped top in book matched flame mahogany with a low gallery to the back and sides, flush at the front, the shaped frieze with a full-length concave drawer with similar matched mahogany with cast gilded brass swan neck handles with pierced petal shaped back plates, the top of the drawer stamped ‘Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh’, the inside is polished with two adjustable divisions, beneath this there is a shaped flame mahogany frieze, all resting on four elegant cabriole legs with foliate carving on the tops and knees, and finishing on a stylish ‘Lorimeresque’ foot.
