You've got the landlord and letting agents who I mean, we don't sell cheap cheap. That's not what we do. There's no point in that. They want something which is going to be value for money. So value for money isn't always cheap it's how long it's going to last. But they're always bearing in mind how is this tenant going to treat the mattress or they're going to look after it as well so they don't like spend too much. But B&Bs on the other hand is different. That's their, you know, heads on beds is their big thing. They want the feedback from their customers that they've had a good night sleep, that's what they always remember. We can advise accordingly that way as well. Obviously you're trying to cater for quite a broad range of sleepers. You'll have people who like a soft bed, people who like a firm bed, people who like a medium tension bed, people who like memory foam, people who don't like springs. So it's a tricky one to get right for the for the the B&B owner. So, we'll find stuff that ticks most of the boxes for them and tends to suit quite a broad range of sleepers and things that will last them a long length of time. Things that are easy to maintain as well because every mattress takes an element in maintenance. People who won't be in base, you've got enough on your plate, you've got enough to do. You don't need a high maintenance mattress. Comfortable to most people, things that are going to get them that good review for their business. A lot of times people won't even realise that the mattress has enhanced their stay that much. They just know they had a great sleep, they had a great night's stay. But we like to think a lot of that has come from getting the right mattress for that B&B.

7 to 10 years, yes. It's something which is quite recent in terms of advice. It all depends on the quality of the mattress in the first place. There's some mattresses you buy which weren't designed to last 7 to 10 years. There's some mattresses which you would buy which you would hope to get a lot longer than 7 to 10 years out of. If you've had a mattress for 8 to 10 years, you might want to have a look at it. Make sure everything's still flat and in good condition. There's nothing sticking through it. There's no lumps all over it. The base is in good condition. And then you'll be able to make a wee, a wee judgment from there.

We had a hotel who had been expecting, they had ordered beds online from a company who specifically catered to hotels and it was something like 20 odd beds if I remember correctly it was several years ago and the company just never turned up with the beds and the hotel was in a massive panic as you can imagine they were getting ready to open and they came to us it's a lot of beds to stock. There's not many people who have had that in stock. But thankfully, having been around for such a long time we've established really good relationships with our suppliers. And we do get things quicker and than I would certainly than most people. So we were able to help this hotel out within about three days I think it was and they managed to open on time and there was no panic in the end it was fine. That's quite a typical story for us. Maybe not often as many as 20 old beds, but It's quite typical that people come in here haven't been let down and they'll come to us and we'll clean up the mess.

Yeah, there was a customer recently actually who bought a mattress. This was Silentnight and the customer lived in Belgium and the delivery was going to the West Coast of Scotland and I mean the Highlands. It was going past Fort William it was. And in these kind of roads what tends to happen is that they get put out to a courier because they're not busy roads so they won't to take a full lorry there. They're smaller roads as well. Unfortunately this courier had not arrived when the customer was expecting it. It was we're getting to the realms of 8 o'clock at night and the customer was, the shop here had shut but we're still checking emails in at home. And the customer was understandably getting nervous that it's not going to turn up now. But although it was off the clock if you like, I managed to phone my contact at Silentnight who is one of the area reps. He's obviously had quite a big influence. He's phoned someone else, who's phoned someone else and this was all out of hours, they have managed to get in touch with the supplier. To cut a long story short, the mattress was delivered. It was quite late at night but the customer was really, really happy that we kept him informed even at 9:00 at night. The customer was delighted actually. So what could have been a problem was sorted out by us having a contact who we could reach out of hours and who could still get something done for the customer. Such a situation it shouldn't have happened. These things do happen but we sorted it really well.

The body usually tells them. What we find quite often happens is someone stays a night at a hotel or stays a night at a friend's house, and it doesn't really matter what quality of bed they slept on at the hotel or the friend's house. It just seems they seem to get a great night's sleep and that usually highlights that it's time to change your own mattress. Normally people will try everything else because a bed purchase we always say is kind of a grudge purchase rather than a luxury purchase. You only really do it when you feel you need to do it. It's not the kind of purchase people would say, "You know, let's buy a nice new mattress," but it should be like that. So yeah, normally the body tells them that it's time to buy a new mattress or it could be, it could just be aches or pains, it could be a spring coming through, it could be rolling off the end of it. It could be if there's two people in the mattress, one person's just feeling the other person a bit more than they used to do. Just to stub night sleep is the number one sign.

There was something happened recently just the last couple of days where as a gentleman phoned me asking for delivery straight away and the reason was that he came from Elgin to help his elderly aunt who stayed in Edinburgh whose husband had just died and there wasn't much a family there. And he was trying to get everything tied up before he had to go back up to Elgin. Well, it couldn't be done in that time frame. However, I reassured the gentleman that everything that he's asking for would be done. And it was, it was all delivered. He was able to go back to Elgin. I'm sure he must have had his aunty on his mind the whole way. I hope this goes well. I hope they turn up as they say they are. I hope this all goes as it as we'd arranged. We turned up, we assembled the bed, we reassured the lady. She's obviously feeling quite vulnerable understandably. And then she messaged us through our website saying how a pleasant experience it was and how nervous she was about the whole thing, and it exceeded her expectations. And then the gentleman from Elgin reviewed to say what a peace of mind it is and he's glad there's still companies that do as they say. So that was really good to read that and it's a very satisfying experience.

There's certain things that I would buy online, it's just especially in this day and age, but there's some things that you just have to try and a mattress is very much in the latter. There's not a day goes by we don't have a customer coming to our shop with some sort of story where they've been let down by an online purchase. Whether that is not arriving on the day that they've the day arranged, a different product turning up and entirely or not being satisfied with the product and finding it a bit of a challenge to say the least to return that product, to speak to a human being I think nowadays is the biggest thing people want is just to speak to a human being and know that they're being heard that they're being listened to and that's what you get when you come into an actual shop especially The Bed Shop which is an independent with a group of staff who care.
