OUR DESIGN STUDIO

Ever wondered why you can't just "pop into" our Design Studio?

There are seven of us, and we look after homes across around 35,000 square miles, from Shetland down to a line between Newcastle and Penrith. The specialists you meet in the studio are the same people who visit homes to measure and advise, so they're often out on the road rather than waiting behind a counter.

We have no salespeople and no sales assistants, and never will. Everyone here, Directors included, is a paid employee, and nobody works on commission.

That's why visits are by appointment, often booked two or three weeks ahead. When you come in, a specialist is set aside just for you, with time to answer your questions properly.

We don't have "salespeople" at SSC. Just family and extended family........

The person who comes to your home isn't there to “close the deal”. They're there to work out what will actually work for your windows, your home and your budget and provide the most relevant information for your project.

Sometimes we're the more expensive option. And sometimes we'll tell you why we believe the solution you thought you needed is perhaps not the best solution and the reasons why.

It's one of the ways we've always done things around here. ❤️

Long before the Design Studios, there was Mum, a van full of samples… and she rocked those heels. 😂❤️

Back in 1987, Mum (June) started visiting customers in their homes with her Decorating Den van packed full of fabrics, samples and ideas.

No showroom. No big team. Just a determination to do a really great job.

Nearly 40 years later, quite a lot has changed.

The van has gone. The heels may be slightly more sensible. 😂 We've got Design Studios, a brilliant team, clever technology and rather a lot more products.

But we're still a family business, and we're still doing things our way.

Some things are worth keeping. ❤️

Well… not one, not two, but THREE award finalist accolades in one week for the family here at The Scottish Shutter Company ! 🏆🏆🏆

At the start of the week we headed down to Birmingham for the National Entrepreneurs Convention ’26, where we were absolutely delighted to be finalists for Best Innovation.

Then yesterday, it was back on home turf for the Dundee & Angus Chamber Awards, where somehow we’d managed to become finalists in TWO awards! 🙌

Three finalist spots. Two award ceremonies. One week 😂🥂

We might not have brought home the silverware this time, but being recognised alongside some genuinely brilliant businesses, both nationally and here at home, feels pretty special.

For our little family business, which started almost 40 years ago and still has the same family at the heart of it today, we’re pretty chuffed ❤️
