🛠️ We’re officially looking for the UK’s heritage craft Trainer of the Year 2026! 🛠️

One of our core missions is to ensure that craft skills aren’t just preserved, but passed down effectively. This award, supported by the Marsh Charitable Trust, celebrates the incredible individuals who dedicate their time to training the next generation of UK makers.

The term ‘trainer’ is broad. We are looking for anyone who shares their expertise, including those running everything from beginner taster sessions to professional traineeships and apprenticeships. You can nominate a trainer you know, your own trainer or even yourself.

There is a £1,000 prize for the winning entry to be presented at a high-profile Winners’ Reception in November. Plus, we will award a Trainee of the Year Award for the best learner, also currently open for nominations.

Spent a wonderful Saturday with MarketPlace Arts holding a demonstration and talk in the morning and a workshop in the afternoon. Thank you to everyone who attended, you were all amazing. Thanks for taking such an interest in rush weaving. Thanks to Marketplace Arts- though I didn’t have the chance to look at what else was happening - I heard from all in my sessions how many wonderful artists were holding other great workshops. What a fabulous opportunity for Fenland folk to try all the amazing crafts on offer. May you be able to continue getting funding in the future- I wish there could be organisations like you everywhere! Special thanks to Kirsten from Marketplace Arts for her help😊

🌼 Call for Stallholders – Creative Day at Martha’s Meadow! 🌼

We’re excited to be planning another Creative Day at Martha’s Meadow for Sunday 7th June 2026, and we’re now looking for stallholders who’d like to join us in this beautiful rewilded space in Southery, West Norfolk.

Last year’s event was a wonderful day of nature, creativity and community, with stalls, nature walks, art, photography, crafts and homemade refreshments.

This year, we’re aiming to grow the event – and we’d love to hear from:

🧑‍🎨 Local artists & photographers
🌱 Growers & small producers
🍯 Bakers & food creators
🎨 Anyone with something creative or countryside-inspired to share!

To all the wonderful people I’ve met this year who made wonderful items from the rush I and my husband harvested from local rivers this year. I wish you all a very happy new year filled with peace and love. We had a beautiful sunset and moonrise for the last day of the year.

Oh no, I forgot to take pictures of the wonderful things people made in our workshop today! If anyone attending would mind taking a few of their creations and sharing them here that would be ace!

I had a fab day, thank you so much to everyone who came. I hope you all felt enriched- I certainly do. You all made some amazing pieces.

A huge thanks to : Martha’s Meadow was a perfect place to weave rush. As ever, so nice to see you (and your dad even if he does try to wind me up…..😂).

Lovely workshop today at Welney Wetlands Centre, so nice to meet old and new friends. Everyone made the loveliest decorations and gifts, thank you to all attendees, who despite my brain going into shutdown made fab snowflakes….😂 Have a fab Christmas! Next Saturday the last workshop of the year at wonderful Martha’s Meadow!

For anyone coming to Welney Wetland Centre tomorrow, I’m really looking forward to seeing you!

There are no flood alerts for Welney Wash currently so all access routes are open.

We are in the Pond room which is on the ground floor. Once parked go through the main entrance- don’t go up the stairs, rather turn left once in the foyer and you will find me!

There is a fabulous cafe on the first floor serving drinks, snacks and meals (also a lovely shop which I can never resist…..)

Although the timings are until 2:30 I have the room for longer so please don’t worry about getting everything completed on the dot of 2:30!

It’s going to be a very lovely session, see you tomorrow 😊
