Well, did you get it?

Ever wonder how the Victorians keep their drinking water cool before fridges existed?

This is the Victorian "water monkey", an ingenious piece of 19th-century pottery that uses evaporation to keep water cool naturally.

Made from porous terracotta, these unusual water pots allowed moisture to slowly evaporate through the surface, cooling the water inside before electricity and refrigeration.

This beautiful Torquayware water pot dates back to the 1880s.

The sad Whimsies are back! We dont believe in throwing things out just because they're a little roughed up, so these are £1 each. And usually, they get rehomed SUPER fast, because who can say no to a sad little animal, even in ceramic form?

I forgot to post the answer to this one! The mystery potato pottery object is a salt saver- a pottery object traditionally used for keeping your expensive salt dry in damp climates (sorry Scotland but it IS Scottish so...)

Did you think we'd miss this week's game of Guess the Object just because I'm recovering from surgery?! Here's one we recorded last week so you can play everyone's favourite impossible guessing game!

What is this lovely potatoey looking object used for? It's a practical item, and here's a hint - it's traditionally used in the home in cold, damp climates.
