I’m VERY excited about this one.
Wand Vintage is joining First Thursdays on Gandy Street this summer, and for the very first evening I’m doing something I’ve wanted to do for ages:
“The Curious Case of Uranium Glass”
If you’ve ever been in the shop and heard me wax lyrical about my glowing glass, this is basically that enthusiasm turned into a 15 minute talk - where I get to combine my academic science background with my love for vintage and antique objects.
I’ll be chatting about the history of uranium glass, why it glows, whether it’s actually dangerous, and why these strange luminous little objects have become one of the most talked-about things in the shop.
I’m doing short drop-in talks with Q&A at:
5:30
6:30
7:30
No booking needed, just wander upstairs and join in.
We’ll also be open late for shopping all evening, and there’ll be 10% off purchases over £10 for First Thursdays visitors - on anything, not just uranium glass!
Honestly, I’d really love to see some familiar faces there. Gandy Street is such a lovely place full of music, independent shops, food and people actually out enjoying the city, which feels very needed.
If you’re planning to come, comment and let me know. And if you know someone who loves strange little vintage things, send this to them.
See you on the first floor,
Charlie :)
(P.S. be sure to visit all the Gandy Street businesses taking part - not an exhaustive list but Boston Tea Party Exeter have an indoor market with Circular Social , have Soul Pizza Truck in the house, plus shopping at Flamingos Vintage Kilo, Floren Flowers, and . Oh, and cocktails at AND pop up comedy with . Big thanks to InExeter for organising it!)
