Just a quick look at our freshly filled sale cabinet Lucy’s been busy working on. Glorious pieces of brass hardware with very slight flaws; a few end of line, ex display or customer returns with some really nice price reductions. Pop in and see us in the showroom in Falmouth Cornwall we’re open Monday to Friday 930am to 4:30 pm. And the first Saturday of every month (so you just missed that one).

The ironmongery showroom has been so busy this week. We’ve loved hearing about so many amazing projects. Thanks to all who came and chatted, perused and shopped with us. We are closed for the weekend, open again 9.30am on Monday. The shop on Arwenack street is open seven days a week!

This beautiful hefty three pronged hook is a fine example of a turn of the Century design suitable for a gentleman’s dressing room or bootroom. Substantial enough to hold lots of bulky items such as suits or coats that you want to avoid crushing together.

Soft antiqued brass, an unlacquered finished that will age authentically over time. British Made.

Sturdy yet incredibly elegant, this design has so much charm and we love the little detail of the backplate and the tips of the hooks. It will go online next week, but message us here if you want a little reminder.

A little look at how to use our mysterious picnic sling (took us a minute too! 😂) but once we sussed it w were all in. Not actually sure how I lived without one.
Use to carry your get to the beach and then doubles as a little picnic mat for food and gubbins. But possibly useful for baby gear and a little change mat maybe. ☀️

AGED BRASS — A little insight into one of our most popular finishes…

There’s something special about a finish that changes and develops with your home.

British made; Our Aged Brass is hand-applied over solid, unlacquered brass, creating a warm golden tone with a softly aged appearance.

It’s a ‘living finish’, so over time the areas you touch most will gently wear back to reveal the beautiful brass beneath. The brass will then naturally oxidise and tarnish, creating a unique patina that becomes part of your home.

Suitable for both interior and exterior use, it’s easy to care for too — simply apply a little beeswax polish from time to time. Avoid brass polish or cleaning products, which can remove the finish OR as our recent experiment proved - you can polish to remove the aged finish and reveal the polished brass below!. (Worth noting it is less appropriate for salty conditions).

When it’s too hot in the studio (we desperately need some opening windows up there!) it would be foolish not to head to the beach a few minutes down the road. Our goal was to bring our new 100% linen travel towels to life in the gentle breeze. The sun and sea combo was definitely doing its thing for us, look at that water! I’ve used my towel virtually all summer - towel, beach mat, shawl (and it’s even featured in a couple of shoots as a table cloth and kitchen curtain so they really are ridiculously versatile and available in a sumptuous collection of stylish colours. Available in store and online now.

I thought you might like to hear about one of the finishes we were discussing with a lovely customer yesterday. Especially interesting for those working on cottage or barn conversion etc. We call it our black beeswax finish.

Unlike painted or powder-coated black ironmongery; black beeswax is created by dipping the forged metalwork in a protective hot wax. The wax enriches the deep black colour which has hints of red and ochre naturally occurring, and helps protect the metal leaving a soft, uneven, natural sheen that feels authentic rather than overly polished.

One of the things we love most about this finish is that it evolves over time. As it’s handled and ages, the wax develops a beautiful patina that enhances the character of the ironmongery rather than hiding it. If needed, it can also be maintained with a fresh application of beeswax to keep it looking its best for years to come.

It’s a finish that has been used for generations and remains a favourite for period homes, cottages and barn conversions, adding warmth and texture.
