Skeinhawk Yarns

Skeinhawk Yarns Hand dyed yarn with a twist https://www.skeinhawkyarns.co.uk I'm a small batch dyer who loves playing with colour.

The alchemy of dyeing is fascinating and I hope you enjoy the outcomes. I'm also a knitter - I'm slightly too obsessed with socks - and love to see what others create from my yarns. I grew up on a sheep farm myself so wool, and the welfare of the sheep that give it, is close to my heart. I only source my bases from suppliers who do not trade with farms involved in mulesing, and the acid dyes I use

are kind to the environment as all the dye is exhausted (embedded into the wool), and none is left over to get into our precious waterways.

As Spring warms the earth and the leaves unfurl once more, April’s Places of Power Yarn Club pushes aside the branches to take a walk in THE GREENWOOD 🌳

New orders close 15th April 2026, with parcels sent out at the end of the month.

The beating heart of the land, forests and trees have inspired folklore and tradition as deep as the woods themselves. But why do they continue to hold such power?

This month’s mystery colourway draws on green leaves, living wood, and dappled light beneath the canopy.

Each parcel contains:
🧶 100g hand-dyed DK or 4ply sock yarn
🪨 A themed collectible stitch marker
📜 A wax-sealed folklore chapter exploring the history and stories of the Greenwood

February's 'Places of Power' Yarn Club was inspired by Standing Stones

The stones translated into a gorgeously variegated yarn with a base of granite grey, sprinkled with lichen green and rust spots. I can't wait to see what you clubbers knit up with this one!

Along with the yarn we learned about haughty kings, devilish dancers and the many other stories these ancient monuments have woven around them throughout the centuries.

March's club, 'Caverns' is available to order till the 15th.

No, I simply cannot take a selfie without pulling a face, I don't make the rules. The possibly ill-advised chestal region pic is just to give a better view of the design.

Had to make a rare appearance on the grid to show off my first finished object of 2026. I actually started this on New Year's Day or thereabouts so it definitely counts. This pattern had been languishing in my to-knit pile for literally years, why did I wait so long?

Pattern: Copperhead Tee by

Yarn: Skeinhawk Yarns 85% Merino 15% Nylon Luxury Sock DK in "Into The Woods", and "Quoth (The Raven)".

I wasn't sure about the idea of a woolly t-shirt but I've worn it for one day and I'm a convert! Loved this pattern, though my first go at ladderback jacquard wasn't the best.

And GO! The first chapter of the 2026 monthly yarn club is now live! After two very popular years of the folklore themed "Twisted Tales" clubs, I'm super excited to be back with another variant. This time we're looking at the places behind the stories.

"Places of Power" is a monthly yarnie journey through folklore-rich landscapes full of history and rich in storytelling. Mysterious caves, green woods, ominous crossroads....

We’re beginning with Standing Stones.
Ancient markers whose original purpose is often shrouded in layers of legend.

Each month’s parcel includes:
🧶 a hand-dyed skein inspired by the places and their stories,
📜 a wax-sealed info sheet exploring the subject,
🪨 a themed stitch marker

Orders for February are open till the 15th, with dispatch at the end of the month. One off and subscription options available

Head to https://www.skeinhawkyarns.co.uk/yarnclubs to find out more and join in!
