The storm never lasts forever.

Life can be hard at times. It throws things our way that we never expected, and sometimes all we can do is keep going. But even in the darkest moments, there is still beauty to be found.

The light always finds a way through the darkness. The clouds eventually break, the water settles, and we carry on.

This piece is a reminder that life is a balance of light and dark. We need both to appreciate the beauty in between.

Keep going. The storm will pass. 🌅

Just in the idea stages with this theme. Nothing polished, just trying to follow a feeling rather than forcing an outcome. I used acrylics for this but I’ll switch to oils soon for deeper tones and blends.

I want to make work that comes from my soul. Paintings that feel lived in, where light and darkness aren’t just colours, but part of the story.

This is the beginning of something. Let’s see where it takes me.

Half hour study this morning. Willow charcoal for the win. The paper I’m using isn’t great, but it actually adds to the end effect, leaving subtle marks from previous drawings. I like how those traces sit beneath the new image, almost like the light emerging from the dark. Sometimes the imperfections are what give a drawing its atmosphere.

A quick portrait study focusing on how light and dark transform the shapes of the face. Rather than chasing every detail, I concentrated on simplifying the forms and observing how values shift across the figure. These small studies are a great reminder that strong drawings are built on seeing shape, tone, and structure first.
