The flowers want to grow. Even though I'm essentially ignoring them they keep on blooming.

This sunshine had me itching to get out and do stuff but I'm still not in a place where I can do that health wise. It's hard but necessary.

But they'll still be there, ready to do their thing. As will I be!

Ain't this sunshine a wonderful thing? ☀️

Hello cutie!

The first tulips in the tunnel are looking great (Columbus - my favourite!). So nice to see a sea of green sqeaky leaves on this dull grey day. (They were very kindly planted by my in laws when I was in Oz and tended to by various friends over the winter).

Today was my first visit to the tunnel since I've been back from Australia. My chemo has knocked me so hard sideways it's a struggle to do anything at all. I do get a couple of 'good' days before every treatment, but I need to use my energy sparingly. A little light pruning and general inspection is the order of the morning.

I can hear the frogs getting busy in the pond, the daffs are opening and the buds are sprouting. All wonderful signs that Spring is coming. The passing of the seasons is a good reminder to me that these difficult months will pass by too. There is a lot to look forward to!

Meanwhile, I'm living vicariously through all the flower spam I see other flower lovers post. 😁 Keep it coming!

Mother's Day is fast approaching and I have only one deluxe bouquet still available!

My own tulips are still a few weeks away but I've ordered in some British-grown gorgeousness to go with what is currently growing in my field.

Keep an eye on my stories in case I have spares for your kitchen tables. The colour is coming!

I'm thinking about how I can balance my need to have flowers in my hands and put them into yours, against the reality of looking after my precious energy. And health.

The best way I can think of is to do a limited number of very special bouquets, pour my heart into them and you can then gift them to someone special.

I can't give my flowers to my own mum because Australian quarantine wouldn't love that. So every Mother's Day bouquet I make, I imagine I'm making it for her. (Thankfully there are fabulous flower farmers in Australia who deliver too).

Orders will be open on Monday 23rd Feb for one week or until they're gone.

Do you want to play with some flowers?

It's been a cold and frosty week, accompanied by some lovely blue skies. The bulbs are reliably pushing though - hooray! I'm OK with it staying cold for a bit to help the tulips I planted waaaay too late. (Anyone else planted tulips in Feb? Yikes.)

I may not have any fresh flowers, but I have plenty of dried ones. Rather than making a bunch of things myself, I wondered if anyone would like a frenzy of dried flower play time? I could lay them all out and you could choose the colours you want and I could show you how to put mini bunches together. 10 mini bunches makes half a wreath, or a lovely bud vase mantle display, or super sweet party favours.

I'm due to start chemo this week so I'm not sure what my energy levels will be like, but I'd love to clear the decks and commune with flower lovers and crafters alike.

Who'd be up for something like that in the next few weeks?

This hellebore was such a welcoming sight to behold when I returned to my dormant Highland garden. It's not been easy adjusting to the cold and grey after our extended stint in sunny Australia. I'm holding onto the fact that there are signs of Spring coming soon - the daffs pushing through, hints of buds on shrubs and a little more daylight each day.

I don't want to overshare about my health journey on the grid but I might put updates on my stories if people are interested. I'll be in active treatment for the next 6 months or so, so I can't say with any certainty when I'll have flowers. I'll be thinking up ways to get them into your eager hands whenever possible though, because we all need beauty in our lives! 💐

* Clare's Update*

We've had a lovely Christmas season with parents and siblings and cousins and aunts and uncles and friends. And it's all thanks to the lovely people who helped us out in our time of need.

I'm clear to fly and we're winging out way home to the UK soon. It's going to be a tough couple of weeks saying goodbye to the people we love. But we are also looking forward to getting home and back to our people on the other side of the world and a bit of routine.

I've recently popped a brief health update on my fundraising page if you're interested.

This is me the week before my mastectomy surgery. We took the kids to a local sea life centre and had the absolute time of our lives! One of the highlights was walking through these huge tunnels under tanks full of sharks and rays. This shark is a Grey Nurse Shark critically endangered in the wild. They're pretty friendly apparently, in shark terms - their nickname is 'the labrador of the sea'. 🐶 Watching them swim around was incredibly mesmerising. It's important to me that we have some fun memories mixed in with the other stuff that's going on.

Now my surgery is all done there won't be outings like this for a little bit. Good food, good rest and good TV is what I'm doing for the next wee while.

I've put a short update on the Mycause page - if you're interested...
