Log Storage Safety Tips

It’s easy to stack firewood close to your stove or fireplace for convenience… but did you know this can actually be dangerous? ❌

Storing logs too close to heat sources can cause combustion and even lead to house fires. For safety:
👉 Never store logs (or any combustible materials) on the hearth
👉 Don’t stack wood on, beside, or against your stove or fireplace

✅ Safe log storage practices:
• Only bring in enough wood for the next couple of days
• Keep your main stack outside, ideally in a dry and off the ground location
• Use a log rack or basket indoors, placed a safe distance from your stove
• Aim for kiln-dried wood with less than 20% moisture content (use a moisture meter to check!) Avoid non certified sources of wood.
• When storing outdoors: protect from rain/snow, keep stacks elevated, and allow airflow

See our guide on log storage here

Safe storage = safer burning 🔥 and a warmer, cosier home.

At The Log Club, our Woodsure “Ready to Burn” certified kiln dried logs are always under 20% moisture – perfect for safe, efficient burning.

🔥 Chimney Fire Safety Week 2025 🔥

We’re proud to support Chimney Fire Safety Week (1st – 7th September)

Did you know that whilst chimney fires in England have dropped by 5% this year – over 2,000 still happened in 2024-25, with nearly half occurring during the coldest months when stoves are in regular use?

Keeping your chimney swept and burning Woodsure-certified, kiln-dried logs (like ours 🌲🔥) helps reduce the risk of chimney fires, while keeping your home safe, warm, and cosy.

Get prepared for winter and ensure your Log Stove is ready to keep you and your family warm safely this winter.

At The Log Club, we only use UK-sourced FSC timber, kiln dried to the highest standards, so you can enjoy safe, clean, and efficient burning all year round.

✅ Support the campaign
✅ Book your chimney sweep before winter
✅ Choose quality logs you can trust

Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy your stove responsibly this season!

We've got more wood! Not to rest on our laurels the team at Log Club have been working on getting even more logs successfully on a pallet.

Slightly trickier than just getting a bigger bag, but also ensuring that we can fill it and secure it to the pallet so it survives both journeys locally across the greater spotted cheshire pot holes on our trailer, or travelling the length and breadth of the UK via our various Pallet shipping partners.

The result after lots of testing is our creatively titled XXL Bag, not to be confused with our very successful XL bag!...

Our existing XL is 3 times the size of our Standard bag and now our new XXL is now 4 times the size. Lots of great value, even more so on subscription.

A great value option for those customers who either get through a lot of wood, or have lots of space for good dry log storage.

So if you would like to get more wood, check out our new Extra Extra Large size.😁

As the evenings start to get a bit cooler and we all begin to think about stocking up for those cozy log burner nights, here at The Log Club, we’re reflecting on how we made use of our kiln-dried logs during those summer months.

After our kids received their GCSE and A-Level results, we celebrated in a unique way—by holding a “Freedom Logs” ceremony! 📝🔥 Yes, we fuelled a good old exercise book burning around the fire pit with our 100% renewable energy-powered, eco-friendly logs, paired with some delicious food and a few well-deserved beverages! 🍻🍔

It got us wondering… how did you make use of your firewood this summer? Whether it’s for pizza ovens, fire pits, or something creative, let us know! 👇

Our logs are kiln-dried using just 5% of the energy compared to other methods, thanks to our 100% self-generated renewable energy. So when you stock up for autumn, you’re making a sustainable choice! 🌍♻️

Hello, Firewood Aficionados! 🌲

We've been busy at the Log Club over the last few months, and we’re thrilled to share some updates that are sure to ignite your interest. 😁

Firstly 23/24 has been our very first full winter season, we have had a lot of success, a few failures, several bumps along the road and thankfully lots of warm people. We are in a great place, which in no small part has been down to those of you that have supported our mission to make firewood a firm constituent of the UK energy mix, when it has a low carbon footprint, low particulate emissions and supports the local environment in neighbouring Wales.

We will post more about all of that in the near future hopefully. However we have a number of announcements to make over the next week, and this is our first one.

We have been taking lots of feedback from our customers and subscribers, and also from those that have not yet purchased from us. As a result as of today we have altered our product selection and pricing just a little. But changes that we think will make a big difference.

So what’s New?

🆕 Medium 'Bulk' Bag Alert! Dive into our new, roomier Medium 'Bulk' Bag for just £100. It’s 50% larger than the standard bag and designed for those who cherish value and have limited storage. Perfect for keeping the fire burning without taking up too much space. We think this is the ideal size for local customers who don't have room for an XL.

💥 Price Drops on Large & XL Bags! We've slashed prices on our Large and XL bags. The large drops from £130 to £125, but our XL falls from £220 to an amazing £165! Thats before subscription or multi buy discounts. More logs, more savings, and more warmth for you and your loved ones. Whats not to like?

Why Choose Us?
🌱 Sustainability First: Our Woodsure Ready to Burn certified logs, dried using a fraction of the energy of anyone else kiln drying their logs, using entirely self generated energy off grid, ensure a cleaner burn and a happier planet.

🏡 Perfect Fit for Every Home: Whether you’ve got a cozy nook or space to spare, we have a bag size that matches your needs.

💖 Thank You for Your Support
Your choice to warm your home with the Log Club means the world to us. We’re committed to providing you with the best value and service. Got questions? Drop us a message or visit us at https://log.club

Moreover if you like our mission and what we are trying to achieve, please share with likeminded friends. Just remember not all firewood is created equal, we believe in sustainable, renewable warmth, that has low impact on the local environment, and supports local communities and wildlife.

Let’s keep the fire burning and the good times rolling. Keep warm and safe everyone!

Log Clubs latest harvest for Autumn 2023.

Clocaenog Forest - Bod Petryal, located near Ruthin in Denbighshire, is an expanse spanning 100 square kilometers, the equivalent of 10,000 rugby pitches. Established in the 1930s by the Forestry Commission, the forest is multifunctional: a significant source of timber, a haven for biodiversity and a recreational destination for those who enjoy the great outdoors.

Clocaenog Forest forms an integral part of the National Forest for Wales, a testament to sustainability and forward-thinking environmental strategies. The project's mission is threefold:

- Foster expansive new woodlands to support biodiversity and working forestry
- Strengthen and conserve existing woodlands.
- Restore Wales’ ancient and invaluable woodlands.

Our Harvest and the National Forest for Wales. This autumn, Log Club has just harvested several hundred metric tonnes of sustainably grown Larch logs from Clocaenog to provide our customers with sustainable warmth this Autumn.

The National Forest for Wales' alignment with Log Club’s Core Principles around local sustainable sourcing of raw product.
Our allegiance to sustainability reflects in our sourcing strategy, prioritising sustainable local UK forests grown specifically for harvest, boosting local forestry, communities, and ecosystems. Supporting the expansion of even more working forests in return.

Visiting Clocaenog Forest
Instead of just enjoying our product that comes from Clocaenog, if you are local (or not so local) why not also enjoy the nature and countryside that the forest has to offer.

Bod Petryal is a segment of Clocaenog Forest that beckons visitors. This forest not only provides valuable timber but is also a haven for species like the red squirrel and the black grouse.
There is some fantastic walking and also a great family friendly mountain biking route - see the Visit Conwy website for more details.

With easy accessibility from Ruthin and comprehensive transport links, including a nearby railway station in Buckley and bus facilities, and free parking. Explore more about reaching Clocaenog via the Traveline Cymru website and Natural Resources Wales websites.

🌟 Exciting News from Log Club! 🌟

Hey there, fellow wood-burning enthusiasts! 🪵❤️

Let's take a stroll down memory lane to the chilly winter of 2022 when we embarked on this fantastic Log Club journey. We realised that finding properly dry logs for our new wood-burning stove was a real struggle. These new eco2022 stoves work like a charm when you feed them with super-dry wood, so we just had to find some. But everyone we tried was either out of stock, or shipping wood that just wasn't dry enough.

The time tested ways just wasn't cutting it.

And that's exactly why Log Club was born! 🚀 We set out to produce the driest wood, using zero fossil fuels, relying solely on waste products, solar, and wind power. Picture this: 365 days a year, we're here to make sure you have access to consistently dried wood whenever you need it. That's what we call commitment!
