It’s easy to assume the glass has failed… but quite often, the real issue is hidden behind the frame.

Across Medway, I regularly come across windows that are perfectly good — but the insulation around them isn’t. If expanding foam hasn’t been installed properly (or has broken down over time), small gaps can let cold air creep in and warm air escape.

That means:

❄ Rooms that never quite feel warm
💷 Higher heating bills
🌡 Reduced energy efficiency
🧱 Potential damp or plaster issues over time

Not long ago, I visited a home in Walderslade where the owners were convinced their windows needed replacing. After removing the trims, it was clear the problem wasn’t the glazing — it was the lack of proper insulation around the frame. Once corrected, the difference in warmth was noticeable straight away.

This isn’t a job for filler or sealant from the DIY store. Insulation needs to be assessed and installed correctly to avoid movement, warping, or future draught problems.
