It's so lovely when the swallows are around, swooping everywhere. At the weekend I was lucky to see some perched in the sunlight - check out that dark blue iridescence 😍

Swipe for my attempts to capture a swalhigh... one to add to my friend's collection 'out of focus but you get the gist' 😁

I was lucky enough to be able to watch hares roaming around from the wetland hides at this weekend. None of them would give me a tune on the haremonica though... sad times!

I love a collective noun, and puffins have a rather cool one - a circus of puffins.

Puffins appear to disappear off to 'sea' for the winter months; in actual fact, the band together in troupes and perform death-defying feats of acrobatics to cheering audiences. Shhh, don't tell anyone.

Back from a winter abroad, the osprey means business. The suit is sharper than the talons, and the boss is taking no prisoners (apart from fish...)

I had a lovely outing with the to RSPB Loch Lomond and we were lucky enough to see osprey circling and diving into the loch. It was drizzly and far away, so my pictures are *quality*, but I did get a comparison between the osprey and the sploshsprey...

It's always a treat to see a red-breasted merganser. The hair and the beak and the expressions just make me smile. I spotted some on the Clyde today whilst on a wander, which was surprisingly tiring.

I am now going to assume the spoonerised role of the bed-rested merganser instead in order to recover.

While walking round the gardens at House for an Art Lover (built based on a Mackintosh design) I could hear wrens singing away. This drawing popped into my head so I just had to go home and make it happen!

Wrens have no business being as loud as they are. I don't understand the physics of how such a tiny bird (third smallest in the UK I think?) can produce such a ridiculously loud noise! You can tell a wren because parts of the song sound like they tripped over themselves and the same note repeats rapidly as they try to catch up.

Swipe for some recent wren photos (varying quality, they do like to lurk and hide) and the timelapse of C. Wrennie Mackintosh coming into being!

It was an absolute finch fest at RSPB Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve today! Forget inches of finches; there were yards of them!

I enjoyed the rage possessed by every greenfinch present.

So good to get out and about in the sun 🐦‍⬛

The best bird to have with you during a card game is the kingfisher. Adept at retrieving just the right card for you (as long as you were after the king...)
