The bespoke runner arrived today!!

Made in Scotland.

It took a while , but finally the big ticket item that pulls this whole flat together arrived. Inspired by the fabric on the Ottoman in the sitting room but with the colours mildly altered to pull in all the tones in all the rooms, and their favourite art . This epic eight meter long runner, has made me a very happy lady.

yes, it’s pretty in your face. But in this house the clients wanted to make sure that the things that they spent their money on could be moved to anywhere they want if they choose to move on.

Thanks goes to , it was a pleasure to work with them, nothing was too much of a problem and I do it all again.

Interior Design is a balancing act.

In this project I had to create a home where all the movables had the impact and that which would be left behind when the flat comes to be sold in the future had a more general appeal.

It is full of colour, and texture. The layers and surfaces bringing the interest. Textured walls, shiny metals, leather and the softness of Fabrics all play their part in this dining area - which has the most fabulous little round table where the chairs all tuck really neatly in. A great bit of design.

Before and after, or should I say after and before?

My project at the old Victoria infirmary in Glasgow, is coming to its natural end and soon to be handed over to the clients. They asked for a full key service, and for me, that meant everything from the lightbulbs to the Joinery, cabinet handles to toothpaste.

It should be just as they want , to walk in and go to bed, or turn the TV on and the Wi-Fi works. There is wine in the fridge, there are books on the shelves and every conceivable detail has been considered.

This is the kids bunk room. It was never a big space, and the clients wanted bunkbeds (and let’s be honest what kid doesn’t love a bunkbed?)

I have loved every minute of this, perhaps with the exception of the endless trips to the cardboard recycling.

Well my nosiness paid off and I went on a day trip to hear the powerhouse that is speak at the joyful . It’s owned by her and her national hero husband situated in the glorious country side near Dunblane . She spoke so eloquently and proudly of her work there and made all of the visitors feel very welcome & well fed. Commendations to the staff , who handled the sea of folk with professionalism and charm. Scottish hospitality at its best. Friendly , welcoming and understated.

I obvs went to see the interiors and they did not disappoint, so here a few pics to show you. I would have photographed the food but I ate it all and now am too stuffed to eat dinner . For the record my favourite space was the black dining room- epic wallpaper and lighting .

Only an hour from glasgow I urge you to take a wee journey even if it’s just for afternoon tea and a walk in the woods.

Scatter cushion season .

It seems like a long time since I posted anything scattery but in almost every project these little plump feathery rectangles of joy pull everything together.

And if you just want two cushions, then I’m fine with that if you want 50 I’m fine with that too. Though I’d probably say any more than five on a bed is excessive in fact, I’m right down to 3.

Jolly day to Edinburgh yesterday to a trade show , had a lovely time meeting up with colleagues and friends to look at gorgeous things.

The general word was all about quality and I think we’re getting to the point where we’re all tired of buying High Street brands that do something for that instant gratification buzz but actually don’t really bring anything to the show for the long-term.

We all seem to talk about how much we put care and effort into every small decision for our clients, the tiny things that go unnoticed like the scale of a lamp or how to cost effectively give clients the best results.

Many of the brands are up from London I don’t know the Scottish market as well but slowly we’re trying to educate them about these enormous windows and high ceilings that we tend to have, certainly in the West Coast. How this affects purchasing of expensive Fabrics, how small Georgian window in London flat might take 5 to 6 m of fabric to make a pair but in Glasgow a 10 window might take up to 10. And how That really affects budgets. And let’s not mention the 25+ metres you might need for a Bay window.

All you guys need to know is that actually we really care about the final output and your budgets and want you all get the best , for now for the long-term.
