Another day, another craft fayre. It’s not right being up this early on a Sunday! 😱😁

I don’t just make lamps and lamp shades 😁 I make allll sorts of things

Any bottles that can’t be made in to lamps get stripped of labels, hand painted and made in to bottle lights.

Left over fabric becomes backgrounds for my wee Heilan coos, other polymer clay creations or wee wooden cut outs.

At Christmas I make polymer clay decorations.

I sometimes make wee hand painted jar and cup candles.

I don’t sell the small stuff on Etsy as the fees and postage costs would make the prices unreasonable, but as I’m busy making stock for craft fayre season I thought I’d post some of my other stuff for a change 😁

I’m in loads of crafting groups and I’ve noticed a huge surge in AI generated posters and adverts. To me it all looks the same and my instinct on seeing them is to think it’s lazy and unimaginative 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also on Etsy, everything is all polished by AI and you can’t tell what’s genuinely handmade anymore because all the photos have been filtered and AI’d so much everything looks well… too perfect.

I spend ages doing my lamp photos (I hate it) I’m not averse to the occasional filter here and there if my lighting is off or something, but my backgrounds are real and my pictures are to show what the product actually looks like. Surely folk are disappointed when they get a product that looks nothing like the perfect photo? It feels dishonest to me.

It seems like AI is killing creativity and originality. I get that it’s convenient but it just puts me off buying or interacting with the company using it.

Anyone else purposely avoiding products and services with obvious AI marketing?
