Good news everybody! 😀
Bookings for private slime parties will open back up after my Summer workshops.
🔥I am available after the 31st of August. Send me a PM to book.
All info is on the poster (for now).
Change is coming, read on if you would like to know more, grab a cuppa it’s turned into a bit of a blog! If not……
The slime workshops are available to book from today. Send me your details and I will give you a call to discuss.
If you have some slime based feedback or suggestions on what I am offering then also feel free to share. I will be resharing the poster again soon minus the ‘blog’.
An all new and improved Bexartuk!
This year I am Working on making what I do more visible to more people and more importantly, easier to access.
I started this process a while ago when I changed the page name from ‘Haberdashmash’ to BexartUk. This is now streamlined. My Instagram & WhatsApp have the same name as will the website and new email address.
🎨 I am a very arty person with allot of arty interests. This has been reflected over the last 8/9 years or so via my community workshops, Jack (Gill) of all trades, (master of some!).
⁉️ I have never really sat down and compiled an ‘official’ list of what I can offer for private parties, wrote descriptions/prices ect ect.
So this is what I will be doing over the next 12 months.
I decided I would start with slime.
Please note I plan to make a further few tweaks to the process and offer ‘Slime for adults’ too.
That’s to come, let me know if you would like to book a tester party at a discounted price.
I have placed slime at the top of the ‘set list’ as it’s popular and easy to set up as a workshop. I have 8 years of practice after all!
I usually have everything ‘good to go’ at home too, this is ideal for running along side my ‘expansion plan’. That website will not build itself!
Although not ‘officially’ arts and crafts my workshops are labelled ‘creative slime’ for a reason. Book with me to find out why!
🩷 I will expand on ‘the set list’ as and when I have the ‘spoons’ (if you know you know.) in the mean time I am still happy to hear your ideas and design bespoke events especially for you, my craft stash and knowledge is extremely well stocked.
⁉️I rarely advertise this side of things as many of my mobile workshops and private event bookings come from word of mouth.
If you looked at my page you may think I only do community events!
Not so; if you look closer in the bio and squint a bit, there is a line or two about private parties/events but not much else!
🌵So why and why now? ✨
(The over sharing bit)
Scroll to the next 🌵✨ if you want to skip this bit, it’s an essay in itself. I will be doing more video posts and will cover this then too.
I live with a disability which over the years has seen several rises and dips in the work I am able to do.
At the beginning of this little biz back when I was ‘Haberdashmash’ I had better mobility and hosted private and public events all over Gloucestershire, for example one year I had a stand at pride and the hucclecoat show within a month of each other.
I did allot of work over at coopers Edge and for a year or so helped run ‘The hand made market.’ (A monthly craft market, this is where I started my workshops.)
I booked private parties regularly and participated in community art projects like the ‘Brockness Monster’ & Carnival work, plus a few others which stayed private.
During the first lockdown I was also one of the ‘bag ladies’ of Brockworth whilst running a book and craft exchange outside of my home.
I made small plaster models to put them along side the books.
The ‘paintables’ were on a ‘pay what you can’ basis with an honesty box. The profits from that box helped fund Brockness Monster project.
I also safely delivered bonnet and plaster bunny kits at Easter so the kids at home still had a holiday experience.
I was very productive and always on the go!
Then came covid (the second lockdown to be precise).
I had a few serious surgeries. After that I had to cancel my website and majorly scale back on my work during the two years it took to recover.
Even after that working word of mouth was easier to manage.
It allowed me to be more in control of my workload. (Small and infrequent) With variable mobility it was (and sometimes is) scary to have bookings and commitments too far ahead because I never know how mobile I would be and to date I have only ever cancelled one event in 8 years and I don’t want to do that ever again!
I would like to give a special thanks to Brockworth Link - Community Library & Youth Provision without fail they have invited me to host workshops at the library during every school holiday and helped accommodate my work even though the hardest times.
Through working with them my practice has maintained visibility and they kept me motivated to continue.
Without that work I may of had to close my micro business entirely.
My mobility has much improved over the last 6 months so I now feel ready to take on more work, an event a week would be realistically doable plus a couple more days to do my online stuff and workshop prep. That give me four days to save up ‘the spoons’.
I have also noticed that recently there seems to be more competition locally and I need to make it obvious, even to my followers and workshop regulars that I am up for and ready for work!
🌵🌵🌵end of the ‘over share’ bit✨✨✨
Back to Business!
🌟 I am in the process of organising a website/shop/booking process so my crafts are available outside of my community workshops.
🛍️🛒 On the website you will be able to buy a range of my hand crafted Plaster & Cement models in convenient take away kits to include paints, brushes and a leaflet full of the useful advice I would usually give during one of my workshop tutorials.
The same high quality paints & other art materials I use in my workshops will be replicated in my kits.
Again I will be starting with the plaster model kits and then expand on the range as time goes on.
💡A ‘behind the scenes’ side note.
The craft kits will be released soon but I want to get it right.
♻️ I am currently experimenting with packaging ideas.
It’s important to me that I don’t add to the global pile of single use plastics. 🚯
🎁 Your products will come packed in recycled materials or placed in something you can genuinely re-use;
all whilst looking presentable, professional and appealing to the eye! I am trying to do something a bit differently so it may take time until I perfect it.
😌 It would be easier to just b**g everything in cellophane but there is a lump in my gut that would never allow such a thing.
🌳Even now I only use plastic when I have to and then reuse it until it’s falling apart!
💡💡eco rant over!💡💡💡
I will also be promoting and selling my own personal art work in way of prints and some of my crafty bits too.
I am conscious that I may need to stream line.
At the moment I work on a ‘if you request it I can probably do it’ basis, this has probably left people unsure on what I offer and ensures I only work during the school holidays.
The plan is to have a few products and services that are available all of the time and make ‘what I do’ into an actual predictable business.
So! Lots to do, and more to come!
