I am a City & Guilds qualified decorator with over 35 years of experience in the trade.

I began working at the age of 16 alongside my father, Tom Brooks, who previously taught decorating at the College of Art in Gloucester

✨ Church Job all wrapped up ✨

All water-stained ceilings and walls primed with Zinsser Aqua Bin, followed by two coats of Johnstone's Trade Durable Matt — Brilliant White on ceilings, Magnolia on walls, and Ocean Horizon on the main chapel ceiling.

Radiators primed with Zinsser B-I-N then finished with two coats of Bedec Multi-Surface White Gloss for a durable, long-lasting shine.

👋🏼 BYE BYE CYRIL!!

Finally, the nightmare that was my Citroen Dispatch has been collected and driven away for the last time — and what a fitting send-off, leaving its mark all over my driveway! 😤

After months of trouble, an independent inspector found fully in my favour — the van was faulty from day one and the dealer's attempted repair only made things worse. Warnings popping up, cutting out mid-turn, wouldn't start without a booster… good riddance to it! 🚚💨

Huge relief to close this chapter. Back to relying on my trusty Transit Custom Freddie and getting on with what I do best — decorating! 🎨

Thanks to everyone who's listened to me moan about this one — glad it's finally done ✅

Just completed this lovely shower room in Painswick.

All walls finished in Johnstone’s Trade Durable Matt, ceilings in Leyland Trade Hardwearing Matt.
All woodwork, window frames, and door furniture painted in Zinsser Allcoat Satin – including the towel rail which was prepped with Zinsser BIN Aqua to tackle rust, then fully protected with Allcoat.
I also custom‑made and fitted the storage doors alongside the toilet, to make the most of every bit of space.

Using premium trade paints and proper preparation to ensure a durable, professional finish that looks great and lasts.

Headline: 🚐 NEW VAN UPDATE: Don’t get caught out by the old QR code!
A quick heads-up to all my customers and followers around Gloucester and the Cotswolds!
I’ve had to make a change to the QR code on the side of my van. Long story short: the company that created the original one tried to "hold me hostage" to a monthly subscription just to keep the link live! 🛑
I don’t believe in paying for something that should be simple and transparent—and I certainly don't want you scanning a code that doesn't work.
The Good News:
I’ve replaced it with a brand-new, permanent code that will never expire. When you see the van out and about, give it a scan! It takes you straight to my Google Business page where you can:

Quality decorating shouldn't have hidden catches—and neither should my contact info! 🖌️✨
Thanks for the ongoing support,
Darryl

Garage door restoration completed this week in Painswick.

These doors were originally repaired and painted back in 2019 when they were heavily rotten. Fast forward to today, and they’ve held up really well over the years.

This week I’ve carried out further repairs and a full repaint to bring them back to a high standard again.

Shows what proper prep and quality workmanship can achieve over time.
