🧶 Inkle weaving 🧶

Inkle weaving dates back to the 15th century, where bands were woven for a variety of uses.
The inkle loom was developed in the 18th/19th century. It is compact enough to use on a table or your lap.
The word inkle means narrow, woven band and the loom can be used to create intricate patters.
Different lengths are made using more pegs and looping the yam around them
The bands are made from a cotton/ acrylic mix and are very strong.
Using a variety of colours and patterns makes the finished design quite unique.

My good friend, who helps run the shop for me a couple of days each week, is off on a well-deserved holiday, so our opening days will be a little different for the next couple of weeks. ☀️✈️

We have a huge favour to ask.

We know it's short notice, but we need as many volunteers as possible at the Serenity Garden this Friday.

We're incredibly pleased and humbled to share that the garden has been chosen to feature on a prominent BBC daytime programme (more details to follow!). This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase this wonderful space, highlight the importance of baby loss memorial gardens, and start conversations that so many families need.

Before the cameras arrive, we'd love to make the garden look its very best. Whether you can spare an hour, a morning, or a few hours of your time, we'd be incredibly grateful for any help with tidying, weeding, planting and those final finishing touches.

The Serenity Garden belongs to every family it supports, and this is a chance to show the love, dedication and community spirit that has helped it become such a special place.

💍Jewellery making💍

This craft has evolved from ancient, symbolic bone/shell adornments into a complex heritage craft which can involve soldering, etching, & gem setting.
Materials now used include recycled elements, crystals and sea glass, each one carrying its own character.

Dropped by the The Heritage Craft House in Grantham this morning to meet owner Jo alongside Cllr Matthew Bailey. It’s always great to see new businesses opening in our town centre, especially those as nice as this. The shop showcases over 28 different businesses’ craft products so it’s playing a really important role in helping other businesses out with sales.

Looking forward to seeing Jo’s exciting plans go even further. Make sure to visit and support our local independent shops!

🌷Pressed & dried flowers🌷

Dried and pressed flower history spans thousands of years, originating in ancient Egypt. This then evolved into refined artistic traditions in 16th Century Japan.
They are now used for decorating, framed art, stationery and also cast in resin for long lasting items.
