Contract work is different!
When I first met my biggest contract kitchen client, many years ago, the one thing he told me was his biggest pains in his ass, were glass companies and stone companies.
It certainly got me thinking. How can I take that stress away? I have always pushed for us to be as easy to deal with as possible, and this certainly goes a long way towards this. Making sure all the details are set, timings good, no surprises.
We have a lot of experience working on sites, and they are different. Houses and high rise. You need to be adaptive, flexible and a team player. Often things change at the last minute. Other trades delay us, a sudden issue on site, hoist breakdowns. But we deal with it without fuss.
We also use our experience to point out issues early and help prevent them becoming bigger. Cabinets out of level, sockets in the wrong place, the wrong sink supplied. All part of working as a team.
At the end of the day, as I tell our team, non of us get paid until the job is done. So we're all on the same side with the same goal. Help each other out and it benefits us all.
And if you keep the security and forklift team happy with tea and bacon rolls, then it gets even easier! β¨ π
