Spent the morning with the Whetstone riding and repairing edges.
The one thing that took me a little while to realise, is the quality of the tools matter.
They don't have to be the most expensive, but a crisp clean edge and well prepared tools make all the difference.here are some of my most frequently used tools. Including artisan made and British made, as well as a few from further afield.

This much loved case is from the 1940s and is the usual home to records and medals from the original family member owner.
Time had taken its toll on the linen thread and the corners.

Without wanting to make it new, corner covers were added to bring back structural strength and the linen thread replaced. A water based adhesive was added to the edges of the board lining to return stability and finished off with a wax finish to protect for years to come.

Been quiet online but far from quiet in the workshop, been avoiding the algorithm chasing and focussing on creativity.
Last off the bench a memory box in veg tan Tucson from with brass buckle.

Will try to be more proactive with posting, but will be doing very limited events this year while I focus on creating and developing new ideas and completing long overdue commissions.

Being asked to realise a person's vision is always a project I enjoy, not only the challenge to pattern and create, in this instance, a bag but to ensure you are seeing the very thing pictured in someone's mind.
I never underestimate the trust required by someone to invest their vision and money in a bespoke commission.
Really enjoyed this from selecting the correct leather, Metropolitan Rutland from to ensuring the fittings stand up, using brass buckles, rigs and snaps.

It's worth even more to receive such a lovely review..
Review:
After meeting TW Leather at a country show, the experience has been excellent from start to finish. They completely understood how important the exact shade of brown was to me and took great care to get it just right. There were plenty of interim emails with thoughtful questions, design ideas, and photos showing the bag being made, which was a lovely part of the process. The bag was posted exactly when they said it would be, with good packaging and postage included in the quoted price for a bespoke piece.
Five stars for every part of the process.
