💫 The Design Journey. A London townhouse transformed through character, colour and considered details. 💫

One of the key changes within this project was how you entered the main living space. The original square doorway felt quite standard, so we introduced a soft arch to frame the view and create a stronger sense of arrival.

From there, we wanted to bring warmth and character into what had been a much cleaner, more modern interior. Rich rust upholstery, patterned textiles, natural stone and warm timber sit against a softer neutral backdrop, creating a balance between old and new.

We also sprayed the existing doors black. A relatively simple change, but one that gave them more architectural presence and helped move the apartment away from its original new-build feel.

For us, transitional interior design is often about these decisions. Looking at what already exists, understanding what needs changing, then layering in details that give a home its own identity.

💫 TXTURED AT FOCUS/26 Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour - Luxury Interiors 💫

We’re delighted to announce that our Founder and Creative Director, Simon Mayhew, will be speaking at Focus/26 at Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour this September.

As part of the Conversations in Design programme, Simon will join a panel of respected voices from across the interiors industry for:

Making Connections: Trust, Knowledge and Design

17 September
11:30am to 12:30pm
Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, London

The conversation will be hosted by Pip Rich , Executive Editor of Livingetc, bringing together perspectives from across the design industry to explore the role trust, knowledge and strong creative relationships play in successful interiors.

The Conversations in Design programme brings together leading designers, editors and creative minds to share the knowledge, experience and thinking behind their work.

For Simon, the subject feels particularly relevant. Great interior design relies on strong relationships. Between designer and client, and with the makers, craftspeople, suppliers and specialists whose knowledge helps shape a project.

Tickets are £10 via Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour.

💫 A kitchen designed around natural materials, warmth and charm. 💫

For this scheme, we paired rich timber cabinetry with a heavily veined natural stone, using the same stone across the worktops, splashback and windows to create one continuous material story.

The depth of the timber balances the movement within the stone, while aged metal details and woven pendants bring warmth and a more relaxed character to the space.

We wanted the kitchen to feel refined without feeling formal. A space designed for everyday life, where the materials will develop more character with age.

One of our favourite kitchen designs.

We wanted this space to feel warm and relaxed, with a sense of character that felt as though it had developed over time.

We started with a soft, neutral foundation, using traditional wall panelling and parquet flooring to give the room structure. From there, we layered natural stone, warm timber, richer colour and pattern to stop the scheme feeling too formal or expected.

The travertine coffee table anchors the seating area, while the arched timber cabinet introduces a stronger piece of furniture against the traditional architecture. Smaller details, from the checkerboard print to the artwork and collected objects, bring personality into the room.

A balance of old and new, soft and structured, neutral and playful.

💫 Meet the team at TXTURED 💫

SIMON MAYHEW
Founder & Creative Director

Simon founded TXTURED with a focus on creating interiors with character and a strong sense of identity. His approach is rooted in transitional design, mixing old and new, contemporary pieces with vintage finds, and introducing layers of texture and detail.

He also has a particular interest in how scent changes the way we experience a space, something we’re developing further within the studio and our projects.

MAX COE
Interior Designer & Technical Lead

Max leads the technical side of the studio and works closely with our contractors and suppliers throughout the implementation of a project.

With experience in AutoCAD and SketchUp, he translates the design into detailed drawings and manages projects on site, with a keen eye for the details that make the finished space work.

NIKITA McCONNELL
Junior Interior Designer

Nikita shares Simon’s passion for transitional interiors and brings a strong visual eye to the studio.

With exceptional knowledge of SketchUp and Enscape, she works across concept development, 3D modelling and visualisation, helping us explore ideas and bring our designs to life before they reach site.

Together, we bring different strengths to each project, from the initial idea and design direction through to technical detailing, visualisation and implementation.

We’re TXTURED. An interior design studio working across Manchester, Cheshire, London on Residential and Commercial Spaces.

💫 A bespoke detail designed around the space. 💫

With a compact footprint, an off-the-shelf basin never felt like the right solution for this powder room. Instead, we designed a bespoke basin specifically for the proportions of the room.

The statement marble brings movement and character against the warm, textured walls, paired with aged brass fittings and soft alabaster lighting.

For us, bespoke interior design is often about solving a practical constraint in a way that becomes part of the identity of the room.

Small space. Strong detail. Designed specifically for this home.

Stop rushing. ✨

It’s one of the biggest reasons I see projects start to go wrong.

There’s always pressure to get moving. Get the builder in, start first fix, order the kitchen, choose the lighting. But if the design decisions haven’t been made properly, you’re often creating problems you’ll have to solve later.

For me, the work we do before a project gets on site is some of the most important.

The furniture layout informs the lighting. The lighting informs the electrical plan. The joinery needs to work with both. Materials need to be considered together. One decision affects the next.

Taking a little more time at the beginning gives everyone a clear direction and makes for a much smoother project on site.

If you’re planning a full home renovation, bring your interior designer into the process early. It gives us the time to design properly, rather than trying to catch up with decisions already being made.
