Behind the scenes at the build -

Caroline asked me to assist her with the floral bowls displays on her stand. Using sustainable floral mechanics - The ikebana style uses a kenzan (pin frog) to secure the flowers in the bowl this pays homage to the origin story of these beautiful flowers.

I was honoured to be asked to assist and attend this historic show. The plantsmanship and attention to detail of Caroline is incredible and I’ve been privileged to be able to be part of the journey.

The peonie flowers would not be ready until the show time so that did not give us much time to be able to work with the actual flowers ahead of the show!

The hand made bowls were designed and made by a potter from Barcelona, each one is unique.

Mentoring with Plantagogo - Chelsea Gold medal winners from 2009-2018 supported our design and layout.

The display has been designed by Caroline at Letham Plants with years of experience and exceptional attention to detail - I have been privileged to be working on this stand.

Caroline and I met Vicki and Richard from Plantagogo nursery who are mentoring us this year. Running through the layout, design and educational boards and display at Letham plants nursery and then meeting on site. Thank you for all the guidance support and good fun on the journey to Chelsea. Such a wonderful experience.

Caroline Samuel at Letham Plants is creating an educational Lindley stand featuring intersectional peonies. A cross between the (woody) Tree Peony and hardy herbaceous peony. Flowering perfectly in time for the Chelsea Flower Show, thanks to Carolines expertise.

These gorgeous show stopper flowers will be displayed to show the range of colours and the lifecycle of the plant. Travelling from East Lothian Scotland to Chelsea - come along and see us

Origin: These were developed by Dr Toichi Itoh a Japanese horticulturist who successfully achieved the cross-breeding of a herbaceous peony and a tree peony in the1940’s.

Follow along to see the journey of the plants to the Chelsea Flower Show.

Supported by Debbie Scott at East Lothian Flower Farm the display shows stunning plants, flowers, foliage and story of the peonies.

Plants will be available to purchase both: Peonies and Astrantia
