Francis Moore, our founder, had worked within the West Yorkshire Textile Industry since 1952. During this time, he achieved the reputation as a master craftsman in the art of fine weaving; modifying his conventional looms to accommodate the most intricate weaving designs and materials. He was often consulted for his knowledge and contacts within the trade.
Francis built his workshop in Halifax, West Yorkshire from the ground up using his wealth of experience to create his own colourways and designs. He had designed his own range of fashion scarves since the late 1990s which are displayed and sold in craft galleries across the globe, as far as Julies Artisan at Madison Avenue, New York. He also created and manufactured designs for prestigious clients within the Tower of London and Liverpool Cathedral.
This textile business developed into a strong and self-sustaining company, outliving the decline in UK textile manufacturing largely as a result of Francis’ expertise and remarkable product results. These beautiful and original designs are still being produced today, with the company living on through Francis’ son, Peter, who has worked as a textile engineer his whole life, and worked side by side with his father for the last 15 years. He continues to manufacture woven textiles for a loyal and growing clientele, as well as developing a new range of unique, hand-drawn and computer graphic designs that are transferred into beautiful woven pieces.
