🧶 A little Hookery housekeeping 🧶

Both clubs are running as usual this week, so there's still time to come along and enjoy some crochet and good company before we take a little break!

🧶 A little TLC for the yarn library! 💗

The bright pink yarn stove on Valley Road in Hebden Bridge has had a good tidy and a fresh top-up today, with plenty of yarn and a few crafty surprises waiting to be discovered!

If you've never spotted it before, it's a little community treasure where anyone can take what they need, leave what they can spare, and give unwanted yarn and craft supplies a new lease of life ♻️

Whether you're a complete beginner, an experienced maker or just fancy a rummage, there's always the chance of finding something interesting! 💗 And something rather lovely to share!

Every now and then, there have been a few unexpected pennies and little cash donations left by kind visitors. Nobody was asked to leave anything, which makes it all the more heartwarming.

Those little acts of kindness have quietly added up over the months to **£8.50**, and that money has now been donated to Overgate Hospice 💗

It might seem a small amount, but there's something really special about those unexpected gestures of generosity. A little yarn library, a few kind strangers and a lovely reminder of what community is all about. 🥰

The yarn library is free for everyone to enjoy, and it's wonderful to see people embracing the spirit of sharing, reusing and keeping creativity accessible to all.

Next time you're wandering along Valley Road, keep an eye out for that unmistakable pink stove. Have a peek, take a little something or leave a little something – and help keep the yarn library going! 🧶💗

Balaclavas, blankets and baking… just your average Thursday night at Halifax Hookery! 😂🧶🍰

Vanessa is absolutely spot on for the season and trend with her fabulous granny-square balaclava — crochet fashion is having a serious moment again and as usual she's ahead of us all! 😂

Kayla only started learning with us recently and has now properly mastered her granny squares — beautifully neat, and I LOVE the colours she’s chosen for her blanket. 🥰

And Val baked!! 🍰🙌 Two cakes, because apparently one simply isn't enough for us 😂 We are thoroughly spoilt and very happy about it, thanks Val xx

Fabulous crochet, fantastic cake and even better company. Thursday nights done right. ❤️🧶

✨ ROAD TRIP - YARNDALE 2026 🧶✨

Well THAT was fun!💕

Beautiful yarn. Brilliant makers. Far too much squishing. Absolutely no self-control.

Went for inspiration.
Came back with yarn.
Obviously. 🤷‍♀️🧶

So many gorgeous stalls, lovely chats, familiar faces, new discoveries and approximately eleventy-billion ideas now fighting for space in my brain.

Feet = finished.
Yarn-loving soul = VERY happy. 💕

🍂 Happy Autumn Equinox, you magnificent stitch witches! 🍂

The balance is shifting, the evenings are drawing in, and the yarn stash is entering its most powerful season. Time to reach for the chunky hooks, unleash the autumnal colours and crochet something gloriously unnecessary before the heating goes on 🧶

Well… THAT was a night! 🧶🎉💕

A massive thank you to everyone who came along to our birthday-week crochet club last night — for the usual laughs, loyalty, learning, yarn chat, questionable crochet decisions and general nonsense. 😂

And an extra HUGE thank you to all of you who dash straight from work, arrive despite whatever life has thrown at you that week, or battle through the other 1,000 reasons to think “nah, I’ll stay home tonight”… and turn up anyway.

A few special shout-outs from last night…

🧶 Gill — our longest-attending member last night! Gill started with us back at Beehive Mills, before we’d even found our Hebden home, and is STILL turning up at our latest den in Ludfoot. Now THAT is crochet commitment, thanks Gill. ❤️

🍰 Val — who once again arrived bearing baked goods like some sort of crochet club fairy godmother. Red velvet cake AND banana cake for our birthday celebrations. Thanks Val 😋

💕 Annie, Max & Sarah — our three lovely new members! A HUGE welcome to you all. You bravely walked into your first club and survived. 😂 We hope you loved it as much as we loved having you.

☕ Thank you to everyone who sets up, packs down, makes their own brews, washes up, tidies away and generally gets stuck in. The crochet may be the glamorous bit (debatable), but all those little jobs are what make club happen.

🎟️ Ang — congratulations on winning the raffle and taking home 10 balls of Stylecraft DK! 🧶💕 May your stash grow wildly and irresponsibly.

Thank you for being such an absolutely brilliant host, for your gorgeous yarn donations, for being such a wonderful custodian of the Community Centre, for introducing us to our new home AND for opening and closing up for us this week.

And Karen & Sonya — what can I say? 🥰 Thank you for all the constant and ongoing support: setup, pack down, lugging teacups, washing up, listening to my worries, helping with teaching and repeatedly putting your own projects aside to help everyone else.
You do SO much behind the scenes and I genuinely couldn’t do it without you. ❤️

It was a fantastic night, and five years of Halifax Hookery would be nothing without the people making this little community what it is - The people who keep coming back.
The people who bring their mates.
The people who turn up having had a rubbish day.
The people who learn something new.
The people who teach someone else.
The people who like and share our posts.
The people who bring cake and treats.
And the people who somehow manage to have a 20-minute conversation about one crochet stitch. 😂It’s all of you.

Five years in and I still bloody love it.

Our actual anniversary is Wednesday 4th September, so BOTH of this week’s clubs are officially birthday party clubs — because obviously one celebration wasn’t going to be enough. 😂

🧶✨ Knit Show 2026! ✨🧶

Yesterday I had my first ever trip to the Knit Show with the Knitters Paradise at Coldspring Mill team — and what a day! 🥰

So much to see, squish and try very hard not to buy 😂 From gorgeous new yarns and exciting textures to seasonal goodies, beautiful displays and, of course…

FLUFF. FLUFF. FLUFF. 🐑🧶😍

I came home with a head full of ideas and a serious appreciation for just how much gorgeousness there is out there in the yarn world. It was brilliant to go along with the shop and get a proper look at what’s coming, what’s new and what might be making its way onto our shelves.

Here’s just a little peek at some of the loveliness I spotted yesterday… 👀💕
