Traditional properties with a contemporary twist. We love this project.

For a Silver Birch Interiors project, it’s slightly unusual that two of the biggest features we created aren’t actually kitchen furniture or traditional kitchen design features.

This time, we wanted to make the most of the property’s original features — bringing the old sandstone back to life as a real statement and using the incredible ceiling height to create an impactful ceiling detail. Both have really elevated the space and added so much character.

The kitchen looks pretty good too, if we do say so ourselves.

Since we opened on Bothwell Road 7 years ago, we’ve seen utility rooms evolve practically more than almost any other room in the house.

Mums often tell us that keeping on top of washing, drying, hanging and ironing can become one of the biggest challenges — especially when you have two or three sporty kids in the house! 🏃‍♀️⚽️

That’s why multifunctional cabinetry can make such a difference.

From brooms and boards to laundry baskets, hanging rails, shoe storage and everything in between, clever cabinetry can help make the most of every inch of space.

And you don’t always need a huge room. Sometimes just two or three larder-style cupboards can completely transform how a utility works. Some clients even choose to sacrifice the sink to gain that extra, incredibly valuable storage.

It’s all about designing the space around how you actually live — because a well-planned utility room can make everyday life that little bit easier🩶

More than half of our clients choose to keep their kitchen tones neutral, warm and subtle, creating a timeless backdrop that’s easy to accessorise, while allowing one wall to become a real feature and be transformed more dramatically.
