A fresh page for the studio.

The desk is clearing, the boards are going up, and the diary is filling with new projects. There is a particular feeling to the start of a season, part planning, part anticipation, and we rather love it.

September is a busy noticing month for us too. It is when a lot of enquiries land, because it is when people finally sit down and look at what they want their home to do next.

The summer is over, the house is quiet again, and suddenly you can see it.

The hallway that never quite works. The kitchen that everyone crowds into and nobody moves through easily. The room you keep meaning to sort out.

September is the month most people start noticing these things properly. The routine settles, you are home more, and the gaps become obvious.

Noticing is the useful part. It tells you what your home is asking for. What comes next is deciding whether to patch it or plan it properly, and that is usually where we come in. A good design decision made now, calmly, is worth ten made in a rush later.

Swipe to see what early involvement can do to a farmhouse.

This home in the Yorkshire Dales started as a much loved family house that had stopped working the way the family needed it to. The bones were beautiful. Original stone, timber beams, and those far reaching views across the dale. But the layout felt disconnected, and years of everyday life had crept in around the edges.

We were brought in early, introducing both the architect and the contractor and guiding the design and build from first conversation to final styling. That early involvement is what let us open the house up to the landscape, bring in the arched bathroom window, and let the stone and beams take centre stage rather than fighting against them.

Wherever we could, we specified Yorkshire based suppliers, so the finished home feels rooted in exactly where it stands.

The best compliment on a project like this is when people walk in and cannot quite tell what is new and what has always been here.

A home we poured a lot of care into has just come to the market.

Set in the heart of central Harrogate, this elegant, generously proportioned four bedroom family home was fully renovated by us from top to bottom. It’s one of those projects we’re genuinely proud of.

It’s a house that works as beautifully as it looks. A layout that makes sense for real family life, lovely natural light throughout, and finishes chosen to feel right for years to come rather than just for now.

An exciting day for us on site.

We’re down near Southampton visiting our latest care home development, meeting the team at Zephyr X to walk the building and see the progress the contractors have made.

Days like this matter. We’re reviewing finishes, talking through the issues that always come up on a project this size, and working through the last few layout changes while there’s still room to get them right.

This is the part of the process people rarely see, and it’s where a lot of the value sits. The decisions made now, before things are fixed in place, shape how the finished environment feels for the residents and families who’ll use it every day. Getting the details right at this stage is what stops small compromises becoming permanent ones.

We’re genuinely proud to be part of this development, and to be doing the kind of care home design that puts the people living there first.

There is a particular moment when you come home from being away and see your own house as if for the first time. The hallway that never quite works. The kitchen that fights you every morning. The room you walk through but never actually sit in.

That noticing is useful. It is your home quietly telling you what to fix.

Late August is a good time to listen to it. Not because you need to rush, but because starting the conversation now means decisions get made with time to think, rather than squeezed in before the year ends. The projects that run most smoothly are almost always the ones that begin early and calmly, well before a single builder is booked.

There is a name for the feeling that creeps in halfway through a renovation. Most people do not expect it, and almost everyone experiences it.

A client said this to us recently. It is one of the most common things we hear, and it is completely understandable. Have a guess at the number before you swipe.

Every label here is a real decision from one small shower room. None of them are optional, and each one affects the next.

Want your home finished in time for Christmas? Now is the moment to start the conversation.

It is one of the questions we hear most at this time of year. There is a sense that December is a long way off, and then the reality of how much happens before the building work even begins starts to sink in.

Here is the honest answer. The design and specification come first. Decisions need to be made and signed off, and bespoke pieces like joinery, furniture and tiles often carry lead times of several weeks. Good builders book up well in advance. Starting now gives us the room to get those decisions right rather than rushed.

None of this is about hurrying you along. Early involvement is what keeps a project calm and on track, and it is why a finished home feels considered rather than compromised.

Some rooms are designed to be looked at. This one was designed to be lived in.

This media room is part of a full home renovation in Harrogate. The brief sounded simple: a room the homeowners could properly relax in at the end of the day. In practice, getting that right took real thought.

The layout was where most of the work happened. We spent a lot of time on it with the client, talking through where people would sit, how the room needed to feel, and how to make the most of the view across the window. Everything else, the bespoke joinery, the soft green walls, the deep velvet seating, followed once the flow of the space was right.

This is the part of a renovation that would be easy to rush and easy to get wrong. A relaxing room does not happen by accident. It comes from thinking about how a space will actually be used, long before the finishes are chosen.
