Willow branch ball bowl. This bowl is turned from a pillow branch ball. It's 15x10x4 in size. It was rather soft and easy to turn but tore out in places where the grain was really soft and p***y . It is finished in 7030 oil wax.

Today's pupil turned a trinket box and a wide timed bowl to finish. Well done Jonathan.

One for me I turned this bowl over a few days it is 19x14x"in size and finished in wax oil . Not sure what the timber is...

One for me I turned this bowl over a few days it is 19x14x"in size and finished in wax oil . Not sure what the timber is but was as dry as and ended finishing with a negative rake scraper and sanded to 320.

This week marked another great milestone in our Veterans' Foundation Woodturning Programme.

Our two veterans are making excellent progress and are now working on their fourth project – a 12-inch olive ash platter.

It's fantastic to see their confidence and skills growing with every session. They are now beginning to understand the importance of tool control, making the correct cuts, and riding the bevel to achieve clean, controlled cuts. These are key woodturning techniques that take time, patience and practice to master.

As their abilities develop, I'm able to introduce projects that are becoming more technical, helping them build on the skills they've already learned while continuing to challenge them in a supportive environment.

A huge well done to both of you. Your dedication, willingness to learn, and the progress you've made so far should make you both very proud. I can't wait to see your finished platters!

This week marked another great milestone in our Veterans' Foundation Woodturning Programme.
