Small update from the Wildlings at Wilderland Design.

Over the next few months, Sammi will be taking more of a quieter, behind-the-scenes role, so things may look a little different online and at some events.

Wilderland Design will still be attending booked workshops, markets and creative events, and Simon is still taking on leather and wood commissions.

Over Easter, our students stepped into the world of gilding — layering gold, copper and silver by hand to create pieces that literally catch the light

Every piece you see here was made by someone trying it for the very first time

No experience. No pressure. Just a calm, creative session to try something new and make something you’re genuinely proud of.

THOUGHTS ON MY MIND (SAMMI):

This photo is one of the few memories I have from childhood—me and my dad on my first communion.

He worked incredibly hard to provide for us, but it meant we didn’t always get the time together. Now that he’s unwell, it’s made me reflect on just how much of life we spend working… and how often we don’t make time for the things we love.

So I’m trying to change that.

After running a few workshops last year, I realised how much it helped—not just creatively, but with mental health, social anxiety, and that constant imposter syndrome. And even more than that, I loved seeing the impact it had on the people who came along.

Through Wilderland Design, I really hope we’re creating something meaningful—workshops that give people the chance to try something new, spend time with others, or just take a moment for themselves.

If there’s anything you’d love to see from us, we’d genuinely love your ideas. We want to keep things fresh, creative, and inspiring (and keep the ADHD brain happy too!).

🤍 A little note from us at Wilderland Design 🤍

We’ve been a bit quieter than usual recently as we focus on some family health things that need to come first right now. 🙏

We’re still very much here and in the studio — just moving at a gentler pace. We’re taking on a small number of commissions and spending time making, because creating has always been good for our heads as well as our hands, especially during a tricky stretch. 🎨

Thank you so much for your patience, kindness, and for continuing to support a small local business when things go a bit quieter than normal. It really does mean the world, and we’re very grateful to have you along with us.

Every stitch sewn, every piece of glass foiled, every leather commission finished, and every workshop hosted has been made possible because you chose to support handmade.

We are endlessly grateful for this community — for your kindness, your curiosity, and your creativity. 🛍️🧵🫶
