A beautifully scented seasonal summer bouquet.

Using only delicate pale shades of ivory, cream and blush. See, I do have range! And I am not adverse to a floaty sweet pea, luxurious rose or a huge ruffly peony. All the summer flowery hits.

The bridal bouquet - always my favourite thing to make 💐 This wedding was so fun to work on. It’s no secret I love colour so being asked to bring ALL the colour to the day was perfect for me. And to use sunflowers! Yippee! I found the cutest mini ones called Sunova as sometimes find a normal sunflower can almost overpower a bouquet but these were perfect.🌻Lots of fun choosing everything and creating this explosion of bright colours for a really lovely couple. 🌈 - I made wrist corsages, a floral pocket and even got the bright - bright vases out.💥

Jess’s bouquet - the ‘it takes a village bouquet!’ Looking different in every light against every backdrop. The best of May - the first sweet peas via the first pink peonies and the last butterfly ranunculus all trying to steal the limelight. I also collected a selection from Jess’s mums garden - white peonies and fragrant garden roses. As well as jasmine foliage from my mums garden … since she’s been ill (Alzheimer’s) it’s become like the secret garden from the story - wild and uncontrollable but good for a florist looking to snip a few bits (silver linings!). Working with the idea of saying it (Alzheimer’s) will get easier the more I do it. Anyhow this resulting bouquet was a very May, very personal bouquet for a truly lovely couple 💚 - and of this week, of this exact place.

Kind words:

‘Bryony! The flowers were just absolutely beautiful, I can’t thank you enough. People kept commenting on the bouquet 💐 it was just STUNNING.’

It was lovely to fill this beautiful vase at Berwick church for today’s wedding. The vase was made by one of the congregation and looks just perfect on the pedestal in the church. And it’s the most beautiful church, painted by the Bloomsbury group with flowers, pastoral and local harvest scenes sitting gracefully amongst the religious elements. Scroll to end to see.

Growing up in Lewes, it was also the focus of many a childhood walk for me - my parents thinking walk, church and culture rolled into one. My teen self likely said meh to all 3, but now I appreciate its beauty and had a lovely peaceful time making this, listening to the birds and waiting for everyone to arrive.

I wanted it all to be as seasonal and natural as possible, as if picked in a nearby walled garden and country lane - featuring beech, peonies, lupins, foxgloves, trailing sweet peas, honesty, orlaya and alliums. Just loving the May flowers this year!

Daisies are just the happiest flower, with their little faces 🌼 So it was fun to use these yesterday alongside some more luxury flowers like peonies, delphiniums and the butterfly ranunculus.

I took a few pics. 📸

A week later and a few new ingredients added to the local flower mix - corncockle, cornflower, allium, aquilegia (grannies bonnet!) and sweet rocket. Lots more ranuculus, orlaya and poppies.

Someone asked me for the scale between a bridal and bridesmaids, so snapped a pic - it’s roughly half I guess, if helps anyone to know? Each wildflower bouquet is unique, fun but hard to plan much in advance although with such lovely ingredients something pretty always comes together!

If you’re interested in a locally grown Sussex wildflower style wedding flowers pop me a message. I don’t grow myself yet (maybe one day!), I use all the wonderful growers nearby who are very good at it.

This one was for Lizzie married yesterday at thanks for the flower selection and

A day like this : for A&B married today in Lewes. All Sussex grown spring flowers. Lots of colour, textures, fragrance. Curated with warm colours to match a non traditional burgundy dress with Ukrainian inspired flower crown. Ribbons chosen by bride as nod to her 🇺🇦 heritage - always love to include personal touches like this. Your wedding your way! Cannot wait to see pics of everything as it came together 💚
