This Chimney Fire Safety Week we want to help you reduce your risk of chimney fire with two easy steps to using your stove safely.
Wet or unseasoned wood is a leading cause of chimney fires; it burns cooler, produces more smoke, and leaves tar and creosote behind. Left in your flue this becomes a fuel source that a stray spark can ignite. Certified fuel and a clean flue do the job properly, together.
StoveWood Direct fire wood is kiln dried for low moisture and Woodsure certified Ready to Burn, so it lights easily and burns cleanly.
Here at The Fire Shop our registered engineers are experts in sweeping and stove maintenance.
Now is the perfect time to book your chimney sweep and order your winter logs to get ready for a safe and warm burning season.

Our weekly round-up in pictures 📷 It feels like Autumn is nearly upon us, there's a chill in the evening air! The Fire Shop teams have been out getting chimneys & fireplaces ready for the colder months. Have you lit your fire yet? 🔥 Call us on 01424 319865 and get winter-ready.
1: An unusual request - repurposing tiles from an old cast insert. These have been expertly set into an oak beam, keeping the history of the fireplace for years to come🔧
2: Creosote build-up in a flue, an extremely flammable deposit caused by burning wet wood. This is why we recommend where you can be sure your wood supply is safe and ready to burn. 🪵
3: The finishing touch to this beautiful installation is a non-combustible beam from 🫶
4: Work-in-progress. A complete re-vamp is underway for this double-sided fireplace. The new riven slate hearth going in after removing the older, inefficient stove and perished flue liner. This is going to look stunning ✨
5: Making progress on this double chimney rebuild in the shadow of Hastings Castle with imperial bricks and traditional lime mortar 👷
6: In the mean-time we have been busy at our St Leonards showroom, updating our displays for the heating season to come.

2: Flaunching renewed for a water-tight chimney
3: Our own access equipment a-top a Clive Vale chimney 🪜
4: Safety first 👷
5: Lead work completed to protect against the rain 🌧
6: Time on the ground at last with this central heating system clean 🔧
