Goodbye May, what a great month and its departure was aptly marked by last night’s full moon.

Here’s a final reel showing my second week in Japan, so many of you kindly commented that I didn’t share enough while I was away.

I’m lucky enough to have been to Japan before and I was thinking by going back it may shift that special place it holds in my heart but now I’m home I just have a stronger desire to return. It’s inspiring on so many levels.

A sign that summer is coming, we have shell wreaths in store. Limited availability as always.

I’m definitely feel that summer holiday vibe, in case there’s anyone left in Hastings who doesn’t know it, I’m away next week in Japan for a while fortnight!

I’m hoping to source a few bits for the shop while I’m there, think ceramics, textiles, baskets, kokeshi, I’m so excited!

While I’m away I apologise as we’re having slightly limited opening hours but lovely Rosie has it covered. Open Thursdays to Sundays until mid May.

We’ve had a few days of sunshine and I’ve moved to summer in the window! There’s been lots of deliveries this week including this fabulous deckchair and suzani kantha cushions. I know it’s set to rain this weekend but I can pretend!

Just a reminder too that from 11am this morning we have a pop up from , her gorgeous botanical patisseries really do taste even better than they look.

Here’s a post that every shopkeeper hopes they don’t have to write… in the early hours of Monday morning the shop got broken into 😞

The door was badly smashed and stuff was stolen, most significantly some camera equipment (a Canon with a distinctive vintage blue strap) and (bizarrely) several large chopping boards.

The suspect appears to be just one man who returns two more times to the shop after breaking in. I’ve uploaded the CCTV here, it’s been edited and sped up to reduce the length but you can see just how long he spent ‘shopping’.

Incredibly stressful but I have to say I have been overwhelmed with kindness from friends and fellow retailers plus the local police and the amazing Croft Glass. What a gorgeous community we have in the old town.

If you have any information on the crime please get in touch, if you are offered any of the above items please notify Sussex police. We had forensics on site within the hour so everything is being done to find the **** who did this. Hopefully an out of towner or just one bad apple. It’s happening all too frequently sadly.
