Amongst selling pots this weekend at .co.uk I will also be selling some of the tools I have been making. Tungsten carbide trimming tools all with handles which I’ve turned myself on the lathe, made using cherry, walnut and apple wood from the garden. Undercut tools will be available too, I have just made a big batch of them this week and I’m excited to share them with people.

Make sure to come find me if you’re at Potfest South East this weekend!

Friday, Saturday & Sunday 9:30-16:30 at Glynde Place.

A copper red bud vase with a frilly head, I don’t feel I have control over how the rims of these pots distort, but that is precisely the point. 😃

After a rather long break from throwing whilst tool making, teaching and admin harmoniously occupied my days, I have taken over the studio with pots again. Porcelain and I are good friends at the moment, aside from leaving my reclaim unwrapped over the weekend and it drying out too much. The studio is warm, peaceful and I’m so grateful to spend my days there.

A workshop aimed at people wanting to explore the realm of reduction firing, expanding your knowledge and building confidence firing a gas kiln. You will be taught what goes into a variety of traditional glazes such as shino, celadon, chun, copper red and ash glazes, as well as have the chance to use them for 10-15 of your own pieces. You will be guided through all stages of the firing and leave with a strong understanding of the process and materials involved.

Additional activities while we wait during the firing will include spoon carving using clay dug from the stream on site as well as a small bonfire with which we can smoke fire some bisque pots.

Location: Old Heathfield, East Sussex

Dates: June 26th - 28th, Friday - Sunday

You can find out more information on my website if you follow the link in my bio. Feel free to get in touch and I can send you further details.

I’m putting a very last minute call out as there has been a cancellation in this weekends workshop. If there are any spontaneous potters out there who would like to join us from Friday to Sunday (17th-19th April) to learn more about reduction firing in a gas kiln then do get in contact. You’ll need 10-15 bisque fired pots which we’ll be glazing on Friday.

Location: Old Heathfield, East Sussex

Also to let you know my final reduction firing workshop for the summer will be happening on 26th-28th June.

More information can be found on my website to which the link is in my bio.

Thank you!

I haven’t quite managed to keep up with things here on socials. I’m still around, sanding and carving away at pieces of wood for tool projects I’m slightly shy to share, packing and unpacking kilns for my weekly throwing classes. I’ll be teaching another reduction firing workshop next weekend so I’m gearing up for that too. After that will come Potfest South East at Glynde Place which I’m looking forward to. There’s some big life events happening this year, I’m just taking it one step at a time. 🥰

I had such a great weekend teaching a reduction firing workshop with a lovely group of potters. Everyone came with their bisque fired pots ready for glazing and packing on the first day, firing on the second and unpacking on the third. We had additional activities alongside such as smoke firing and spoon carving with clay from the garden.

Thank you all for coming with such excitement and trust in the process. I had such a lovely time with you all!

At this point I have made an unreasonable amount of egg cups that now they just flow into shape, the muscle memory kicks in and it’s like they appear out of nowhere. This video reminds me that there is a human behind them, me, and that they don’t just appear out of thin air. 😂

This is my most recent batch of teacups out of the gas kiln at the end of last year. I have dialled in my glaze palette to a selection I’m happy with but then again I can’t help think about testing new recipes and materials.

I am a fan of glass teapots and these pair really nicely for a loose leaf brew. 🍃 🫖 You can find a selection of these in my Etsy shop.
