We’re CFJ Awards 2026 finalists! 🎉

We’re incredibly proud to share that Flooring Matters has been named as a finalist in the Contract Flooring Journal Awards 2026 for our work at The Yacht, Torquay.

This was a truly standout project, transforming a stripped-back shell on Torquay Harbourside into a design-led restaurant and bar inspired by the elegance of a luxury yacht. From the hand-crafted checkerboard bar area to the Parisienne Weave flooring, bespoke stair details with integrated LED lighting and carefully considered subfloor preparation, this project brought together creativity, technical skill and a real eye for detail.

A huge thank you to our brilliant team and to everyone involved in bringing this project to life, including Gutxi, East Street Pub Co Tarkett UK, Calderdale Carpets, Gerflor / Gradus, Invictus, Bostik and Altro.

We’re delighted to see this project recognised and proud to be finalists once again in the CFJ Awards.

Character, craftsmanship, and a proper cottage feel 🏡

We recently completed this full flooring installation in a beautiful old cottage in the Teign Valley. This project really shows how the right materials and detail can transform a space while respecting its character.

Across 4 bedrooms, a long landing and staircase (132m² in total), we:
✔️ Installed 6mm flooring-grade ply
✔️ Fitted F.Ball Cloud 9 Contract underlay
✔️ Used a double stick installation method throughout

The finish:
• Unnatural Flooring – New England “Woodstock”
• Stair runner edged in “Pacific” for a subtle contrast
• Stairrods UK Jubilee rods in antique brass
• Matching antique brass door bars and edge trims to tie everything together

The result is a warm, durable, and practical finish, perfect for a busy home, but with a look that suits the age and charm of the property.
