🏆🔥 Some good news and a wee update from West Coast Stoves!
I’m absolutely delighted to share that my other company, DR Stoves, has recently won Stove Installation Company of the Year at the Scotland Prestige Awards!
It’s something I’m really proud of. I’ve worked incredibly hard over the years building DR Stoves into what it is today, so it’s brilliant to get a bit of recognition for it.
For anyone who doesn’t know, I took over West Coast Stoves back in March this year from Arthur Wylie. I want to give Arthur a special mention because he put years of hard work into building West Coast Stoves and establishing its reputation here in Helensburgh and the surrounding areas. Taking over a business that someone has spent so much of their life building is something I don’t take lightly. Arthur has been a great help throughout the handover and I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity he’s given me. He’s left me with a fantastic foundation to build on, and I hope he’ll be proud of where we take the business in the years ahead.
Taking on a second company was certainly a big step, and I’m not going to pretend it’s all been plain sailing! We’ve had an unbelievably busy year, probably busier than I ever expected, and there’s been plenty of challenges along the way.
But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Although DR Stoves and West Coast Stoves are two separate companies, they’re both under my ownership and I want the same standards of workmanship and customer service across both.
I’ve got a great team around me now with Donna, Lucy, Sean, Michael, Grant, Gary and Matty, and I genuinely couldn’t do what I do without them. Everyone has their own part to play, whether that’s dealing with customers, organising jobs, sweeping chimneys or getting the installations over the line.
I’ve got big plans for West Coast Stoves. The showroom, the installations, the sweeping side of things and just generally making the whole business run better for our customers.
I don’t want to grow for the sake of growing. I want to build two really good businesses with a solid reputation, a team that’s proud of what they do and customers who are happy to recommend us.
I’m still very much hands-on myself and probably always will be. I genuinely love what I do, especially seeing a finished fireplace after all the work that’s gone into it.
To all the existing West Coast customers, thank you for sticking with us through the takeover. I know changes in ownership can sometimes bring uncertainty, but we’re here for the long haul and I’ve every intention of looking after the customers who have supported this business for years.
And to all our new customers, thank you for putting your trust in us.
Winning this award is a proud moment for me personally , but it’s also a reflection of the experience I bring to the table, along with the hard work and standards I’m bringing into West Coast Stoves.
There’s still loads I want to achieve, plenty I want to improve and some exciting plans for the future.
I’m really looking forward to seeing where we can take both companies over the next few years.
