Join us on the Moors Edge Trail, a great way to explore the work of 13 artists and makers in and around Kirkbymoorside as part of North Yorkshire Open Studios.

Using the easy-to-follow trail leaflet, you can visit studios, meet the artists, and discover a wide range of creative work across two weekends: 6–7 June and 13–14 June.

If you’re planning a day out in North Yorkshire, why not follow the trail and see what you find along the way?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the connections within the landscape of North Yorkshire; the light, atmosphere, movement, and the feeling certain places leave behind long after you’ve left them.

This piece grew out of those thoughts and time spent walking, looking, and paying attention.

Open Studios starts this weekend, and I’m really looking forward to finally sharing the new work properly.

One of the reasons I love opening my studio is giving you the chance to experience my work in person, to really see the texture, depth, and surface that photographs can never fully capture.

So much is lost when a piece is flattened into an image.

This work will be on display in my studio this weekend, as part of North Yorkshire Open Studios, and I’d love for you to see it up close.

Open Studios prep currently looks like...moving work around repeatedly...rediscovering forgotten frames...trying to strike the right balance between working studio and intentionally placed art...panicing if I have enough work...and making more...

Still lots to do, but I always enjoy seeing the work slowly come together in the space.

The second in the Connected, Unseen series, this piece moves beyond literal root forms to explore rhizomatic connections, the subtle, non-linear networks linking self and environment. The work considers how unseen systems persist, and how growth continues along paths not immediately visible.

This piece began with a memory and evolved slowly into one of the works that helped shape the newer collection.

It will be on display at my studio during North Yorkshire Open Studios (6/7 and 13/14 June, 10am to 5pm)

I’ll be opening my studio for the first two weekends of June as part of North Yorkshire Open Studios.

There’ll be new work on display, works in progress, sketches, and the slightly chaotic reality of where everything gets made.

If you’ve ever wanted to see the work outside a screen, this is the perfect chance.

At the start of the week, I presented the first piece for the Experiment module of my MFA. Framed as a performance, it gave me a moment to pause, take stock of where I am, and look toward what’s next.

Meanwhile, other ideas, works, and potential opportunities continue to quietly gather in the background…
