Anna Moss Interior Design Anna Moss Interior Design is a considered practice based in Henley-on-Thames, working across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and London.

A little reintroduction, as there are a few new faces here 🤍

I’m Anna, founder and lead designer at Anna Moss Interior Design; a Henley-on-Thames based interior design studio creating timeless, layered interiors that feel considered, comfortable and, most importantly, personal to the people who live in them.

For me, the best interiors are never just about making a room look beautiful. They’re about understanding how a family wants to live, respecting the architecture of a house and creating something that feels as though it has evolved naturally over time.

A little note on 2027…

We’re now booking in projects for the latter part of 2027. We ideally need to be involved at least three months before work begins on site.

Even better, bring us in when you appoint your architect. Being part of the journey from the beginning means we can consider the interiors alongside the architecture… from layouts and lighting to joinery, finishes and all those little details that become harder to change once building work is underway. In my experience, it always leads to the best outcome.

And a little about me beyond interiors… I’m a mum of two, and when I’m not designing you’ll usually find me gardening in my greenhouse and attempting to grow cut flowers, searching antique markets, or adding yet another old piece to the house. I also love art and painting, although these days finding the time to actually pick up a paintbrush is a little harder!

So, hello if you’re new here, and thank you if you’ve been following along for a while. It’s lovely to have you here.

And if you’re planning a renovation for 2027, now is a very good time to start the conversation.

Why odd numbers look right.

One of the simplest styling principles I come back to time and time again is working in odd numbers.

Whether it’s three candlesticks on a mantelpiece, five objects layered across a console, or a collection of seven pieces on open shelving, odd-numbered groupings naturally create movement and visual interest. Because the eye can’t divide them into perfect pairs, the arrangement feels softer, more relaxed and balanced.

It’s often referred to as the 3-5-7 rule, and whilst it’s a brilliant guideline, it’s not one to follow rigidly. Symmetry has its place too, particularly in more formal spaces. As with most things in interior design, the magic comes from knowing when to use the rules... and when to break them.

A moment I won’t forget in a hurry… our Oxfordshire project has been featured in The English Home magazine ✨

This project was a true privilege from start to finish. A beautiful 17th-century country house with wonderful bones, reimagined for a new family chapter while preserving the character and history that made it so special.

The gardens shaped so much of the design. Almost every room looks out onto them, so the palette naturally followed with soft blues, gentle greens and earthy neutrals, while botanical motifs and a thoughtful mix of antique, contemporary and bespoke pieces create interiors that feel layered and collected over time.

With our clients based in America throughout the renovation, every layout, mood board, fabric and paint colour was shared across the Atlantic. It was a project built on trust, collaboration and a shared vision.

When the room starts to come to life.

Before a single wall is painted, there’s usually a table covered in fabric swatches, paint samples and one small piece of stone that quietly dictates every decision that follows. It’s tempting to start with the sofa or the paint colour, but I almost always begin with the elements that are the hardest to change later. Worktops, tiles, flooring and key fabrics become the foundation, and everything else is layered around them.

When those core materials work together, the room feels cohesive without ever looking like it was forced. It might not look like much at this stage, but this is where a scheme gains its momentum and every decision that follows becomes that little bit easier.

Why proportion outranks colour.

One of the biggest misconceptions in interior design is that a room starts with colour. In reality, it starts with proportion. Long before we choose paint colours, we’re thinking about the layout, the scale of the furniture, the height of the windows, the depth of the skirting boards and how each piece relates to the architecture around it.

A beautiful colour palette won’t rescue a room that feels out of balance. But when the proportions are right, the whole space feels calmer, more considered and effortlessly cohesive. Colour brings personality, but proportion is what makes a room feel right.

It’s not always the order clients expect, but it’s almost always where great design begins.

The brief before the brief.

Every project we work on starts with a set of questions, and none of them are about colour palettes or furniture.

How do you actually use the room? How do you want to feel when you use the room? What has never worked about it? And what would you never want to change? The answers almost always shape the design far more than any mood board ever could.

A beautiful room isn’t created by choosing the right sofa or the perfect paint colour. It comes from understanding how you live, what’s frustrating you every day, and what already feels like home.

It’s a conversation that often surprises clients, but it’s also the foundation of every project. Because good interior design starts with people, not products.

A visit to WOWhouse at , Chelsea Harbour never disappoints. It’s such an inspiring celebration of craftsmanship, creativity and collaboration.

From the moment you arrive, the striking facade by sets the tone, creating a sense of anticipation before stepping inside.

This years Drawing Room by in collaboration with was a particular favourite. Richly layered with beautiful wall coverings, bespoke joinery by and thoughtful detailing, it felt both elegant and deeply inviting. And just loved the lamp made from a French barber’s pole.

The Primary Bedroom by was one of my favourite rooms - a masterclass in classical design. Every detail carefully considered, from the beautiful four-poster bed to the abundance of layered textiles and the most wonderful eiderdown, creating a room that felt effortlessly luxurious and comforting.

The Dining Room by was full of atmosphere, so much so that it was almost impossible to capture in photographs. Rich, characterful and wonderfully lived-in, I even loved spotting the children’s toys tucked beneath the table.

Outside, the Garden Terrace was a playful showcase of luxury outdoor living, demonstrating how colour and texture can transform exterior spaces into true extensions of the home.

Pattern and texture are what give a room its depth, character and sense of comfort. Here, soft linens, tactile upholstery, woven accessories and decorative ceramics work together to create a space that feels considered yet effortless.

The muted green cabinetry brings a gentle connection to nature, and the garden beyond the windows, while the mix of prints introduces movement and personality without overwhelming the room. Every element has been chosen to complement the next.

It’s these thoughtful combinations of colour, pattern and texture that transform a space from simply beautiful to truly inviting.
