On first impression, this just looks like a lovely family picnic and it was . But if you look a little closer, you’ll see two dads consistently showing up and very happy children.
It’s easy to forget the emotions of a divorced dad. I have several male friends and loved ones in this situation, and so much of the narrative is often focused on the mother, even when she may have caused or wanted the separation.
Many dads find themselves estranged from their children, desperate to see them more. Driving miles just for a dinner together. Financing lives they are excluded from. Quietly dealing with gossip, assumptions and sometimes even character assassination on social media.
Most men don’t gossip with friends or take to social media to defend themselves. They stay in their lane, protect their peace and focus on what matters most, their children.
I’m lucky that the men I know are emotionally strong, but not everyone is.
Check in on a separated/ divorced dad friend . Don’t assume you know the full story. They might need you more than you realise…
Where these Dads get their energy I don’t know !! But I admire them .
