Just an oddity for those of you that may be interested.

a 17th/18thC To***co Smoking pipe made from the Beak of a wandering Albatross. Highly likely created by a Seaman/seafarer (Pirate :-) upon a ships voyage to pass the days/weeks/months of boredom at sea & of course to enjoy a smoke (perhaps they were even transporting To***co). Most likely travelling the South Pacific, Southern Hemisphere Oceans..

Just like the recent Comet A3 i am confident you are not going to see another like this in this lifetime

If only these things could talk!!!

VERY Large Antique Giant Clam Shell - Tridacna Gigas

length 39.5" (100cm/1mtr) when measured direct end to end upon the inner open shell,
length end to end going over the curvature is 51" (1.29mtrs)

11.25" depth at hinge, max height at finger when sat flat 18.25"

max depth hinge edge to opposite edge 24.5"

Shell is quite likely one of the largest youll find in the country, this one is 1 meter at its max dimension, they can grow to 1.2mtrs

Shell is exceptionally heavy, certainly between 120-130kg!,

Shell was sourced long ago from an estate in Cornwall, likely travelled to our shores in the late 1800s/early 1900s aboard a ship as a curio to be traded... Pre dates Cites 1947
